Akash Winery started with a photograph on a mantle.
In the 1970s, my parents left their home country and rebuilt their lives in the United States from nothing. They built hotels. They built community. Eventually, my father Ray came home from a visit to Temecula with a framed photo of the vineyards and placed it on the mantle. This is my dream, he said.
A few years later, that dream took root on Calle Contento. Twenty acres covered in weeds. We gathered friends and family and got to work — by hand.
Hospitality was never a strategy for our family. It was just how we operated. That has not changed, and it never will.
