Vinduino Vinduino provides affordable, innovative, open irrigation technology for sustainable agriculture.

Vinduino provides innovative open technology for sustainable agriculture. Traditional farming practices -the way it was done before- are no longer sufficient for meeting the new challenges of climate change. Our technologies provide accurate live information needed for adapting crop management to changing conditions. With this information, a farmer can use resources more efficiently, save time, and optimize yield.

At Vinduino we continuously evaluate new technologies to provide best-in-class irrigation automation solutions.

Last year we collaborated with Wilson Creek winery on a full season trial comparison of satellite technology vs land based methods.

The results are published in the May issue of Wine Business Monthly magazine, the industry's leading publication for wineries and growers.

The Vinduino system for agriculture precision irrigation has now migrated to The Things Stack V3 LoRaWAN wireless IoT network!
LoRa is the best wireless technology for agriculture, combining miles of range with very low power consumption.
Migrating to The Things Stack V3 ensures for our customers that our solution is future-proof, and takes advantage of the latest LoRa network developments.
Big thank you to our engineers who quickly implemented the changes, and did the pre-production testing.

Smart irrigation, synchronized fertilizer control, flow rate monitoring

At Vinduino, every day is smart irrigation day. We help farmers irrigate for profit: improve crop results and water efficiency, while saving labor.

The Vinduino wireless irrigation controller can uniquely operate a fertilizer pump, multiple irrigation valves, and track flow rate per irrigation block. The system works with eVineyard and eOrchard software for daily optimized irrigation times.

The 10-mile range wireless network works seamlessly with other Vinduino products and can be shared with other LoRa compatible devices. We do not require pole mounted equipment for long wireless range. This makes installation and inspection easy.

California produces two-thirds of all fruits and nuts in the US. Here is what "America's garden" looks like today. Driving on the I-5 on my way back from Napa, the effects of the drought were to be seen everywhere: fallowed land and up-rooted orchards. Sustainable farming means becoming climate resilient. At Vinduino we do our part with irrigation solutions that improve crop water efficiency.

Today Vinduino walked away with the 2nd place prize at the Riverside County’s Innovation Month Fast Pitch Finale where Riverside County’s entrepreneur finalists presented their business ideas to a panel of venture capitalists and angel investors for cash prizes! This event closed out Riverside County’s Innovation Month by celebrating the top entrepreneurial teams from city-wide pitch competitions. A big shout out to the judges who recognized the importance of innovative technology for agriculture. Vinduino helps farmers grow more with less water!

Incredibly excited about being a key-note speaker at the Sensors Innovation Week Fall event, November 16-18. 85% of California farms with irrigated crops are smaller than 500 acres. Our mission is to improve crop results with technology that is also affordable for medium and small size farms. My talk, titled "Design evolution of an Open-Source, Affordable Crop Optimization Technology", details how we achieve more than 50% annual cost reduction for monitoring crop soil moisture, and improve control over irrigation and fertilizer applications. There is time for Q&A after the presentation.

Vinduino announces 5th generation wireless irrigation controller

Unique features include variable rate valve and pump control plus flow rate monitoring

Vinduino today announces their 5th generation wireless irrigation controller, which controls a pump, multiple irrigation valves, and keeps track of flow rate per irrigation block. The system works with eVineyard and eOrchard software for daily optimized variable rate irrigation to optimize crop results and save resources.

The Vinduino 5G wireless irrigation controller works seamlessly with other Vinduino products, such as the Vinduino R4 soil moisture sensor station, and can join with up to 1,000 stations in a 10-mile range wireless network. The latest LoRaWAN radio technology provides always-on instantaneous response, allowing for wireless scheduling of multiple units and perfectly synchronized pump and valve operation
Vinduino’s engineering team reduced the system power consumption by 50%, making it perfect for solar powered operation in the field.

One unit can control four irrigation zones, and one master valve or pump, while operating on solar or mains power. Integrated flow rate tracking allows precise irrigation volume management per irrigation zone. The Vinduino 5G wireless irrigation controller can detect leaks and autonomously stop irrigation while sending an alert via email and text message.

“Improving crop results while reducing resources and labor drives us to develop affordable cutting-edge products”, says Reinier van der Lee, CEO and founder of Vinduino. “Despite these challenging times we kicked it up a notch, making leading irrigation technology available for the benefit of our customers”

"Bringing support for real-time operation of valves and pumps with Vinduino using LoRaWAN wireless technology is another exciting aspect that we strongly believe will make life easier for the farmers who use eVineyard and eOrchard solutions", says Matic Serc, CEO of Elmibit, a leading provider of agriculture software solutions.

The Vinduino 5G irrigation controller is available to select customers, commercial release is planned for Q4 2020.
