Heirloom tomatoes are jewels to my eyes 👩🏻‍🍳

Years ago, one of my culinary school papers explored the sensory experience of heirloom tomatoes, and the colors, aromas, textures, sweetness, acidity, and how each variety brings its own personality to the table 🌟

I have a little secret...

Every year, around the week of the 4th of July, I get excited about watermelon season ☀️

Not always on the 4th exactly, but somewhere around that magical summer week when Arizona watermelons are at their peak 🏜️ 🍉

That’s when the hunt begins. 🍉🌞

We gather beautiful ripe melons, press the juice, and carefully save it in our coveted freezers so we can craft Watermelon Jelly throughout the year.

And every time I make a batch, I quietly think back to those summer days, searching for the sweetest melons and preserving a little piece of Arizona sunshine 🌞
