David Morens, a former senior adviser to Dr. Anthony Fauci, has pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the United States in connection with efforts to hide federal records related to COVID-19 research from public disclosure.

Morens, who served in the NIAID director’s office from 2006 to 2022, admitted to one federal conspiracy charge under a plea agreement.

Prosecutors alleged that he worked with others to conceal communications involving pandemic-era research grants from Freedom of Information Act requests, including records connected to funding that reached the Wuhan Institute of Virology through a New York nonprofit.

Morens faces up to five years in prison.

His attorney said he has “taken responsibility for what he did.”

The American people deserved transparency. Now, there is finally accountability.

Only eligible citizens should be able to cast a ballot in American elections. That isn’t radical—it’s common sense.

Donald Trump reportedly responded, “It’s none of your business,” when asked about claims that Barron Trump’s net worth increased by $150 million in a single year.

If true, that answer raises an obvious question: why shouldn’t the public be allowed to ask where that money came from?

A dramatic increase in wealth involving the family of a sitting president naturally invites scrutiny. If there is a legitimate explanation, then provide it.

Transparency shouldn’t be treated as an attack.

You can’t demand public trust while dismissing every question about money and power as “none of your business.”

If everything is above board, the explanation should be easy. Show the receipts.

Trump celebrated “a lot of great WINS tonight!!!” on Truth Social—but three candidates he endorsed reportedly lost their primary races in Florida and Wyoming.

Trump-backed candidates Catalina Lauf and Cory Mills lost in Florida, while Wyoming gubernatorial candidate Megan Degenfelder was also defeated.

The results add to a recent string of losses involving candidates endorsed by Trump.

Three endorsements. Three losses. One very different story from the victory message.

The results suggest Trump’s endorsement may not guarantee victory at the ballot box.

Florida continues to demonstrate that elections can prioritize both security and efficiency, with results often reported quickly.

Meanwhile, California’s slower counting process raises legitimate questions about why results can take so much longer.

Secure elections should have clear rules, strong safeguards, and timely reporting.

Americans deserve to know the results as soon as possible—and to have confidence that every vote was counted accurately.

Fast. Secure. Transparent. That’s what voters deserve.

❤️ THIS IS WHAT PRO-FAMILY POLICY LOOKS LIKE

Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced that New York City will eliminate out-of-pocket childcare costs for roughly 22,000 low-income families already receiving childcare assistance, beginning in September.

The city says it will cover about $5.2 million a year in costs families currently pay.

Being pro-family shouldn’t stop at telling people to have more children.

It should mean asking: Can families afford childcare? Can parents keep working? Can they pay rent, buy groceries, and raise their kids without drowning in daycare costs?

You don’t have to agree with Mamdani on everything to recognize that helping 22,000 families afford childcare is worth discussing.

If we want stronger families, let’s make raising them more affordable.

Crockett called Trump the “most disloyal person” in the country, arguing that his priorities are out of touch with the struggles facing everyday Americans.

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear Donald Trump’s appeal of the $5 million verdict in the E. Jean Carroll case, leaving the 2023 jury verdict final.

The jury found Trump civilly liable for sexually abusing Carroll and defaming her, while specifically finding that the evidence did not establish r**e under the legal standard used in that case.

That distinction matters: this was a civil case, not a criminal conviction.

Trump has consistently denied Carroll’s allegations and wrongdoing. His legal team sought to overturn the verdict, but the Supreme Court’s refusal leaves the $5 million judgment intact.

A separate $83.3 million Carroll defamation judgment remains before the Supreme Court.

Two cases. Millions in damages. And another major legal defeat for Trump.

Rep. Nancy Mace’s amendment targets naturalized citizens seeking federal office—but the proposal reaches far beyond the Democrats she appears to be targeting.

More than a dozen naturalized citizens currently serve in Congress, including Republicans.

The proposal would also affect federal judges, ambassadors, consuls, and other presidential nominees requiring Senate confirmation.

That means the same rule that could block a naturalized Democrat from Congress could also prevent a naturalized Republican from serving in a Cabinet position.

Mace filed the proposal herself, without any other member signing on.

A political weapon aimed at one side could end up restricting both.

ABC is suing the Trump administration, alleging that the government attempted to suppress its freedom of speech.

Good.

The First Amendment doesn’t disappear because a president dislikes critical coverage or tough questions.

No president—Republican or Democrat—should be able to use government power to intimidate or silence a news organization. Freedom of the press means journalists must be free to investigate, criticize, and hold those in power accountable.

This is bigger than ABC.

If the government can punish one news outlet for unfavorable coverage, every journalist—and every American who speaks out—has reason to be concerned.

No president should decide which voices are allowed to be heard.
