My first time at the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festivall back in 2015 was a completely eye-opening experience.
As a chef, I was blown away by how many creative ways spicy chiles were being paired with unique ingredients to create completely different styles of hot sauce.
We showed up with what would eventually become our first hot sauce, Yellow Jacket, in some very modest....and pretty janky 😆packaging under the Chef Flaco’s label. Wicked Provisions didn’t even exist yet.
I remember watching companies like Mikey V’s and Bravado Spice Co. clean up at the sauce awards and thinking, “I want my shot at this.”
Fast forward to now, and the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival feels less like another event and more like a homecoming.
Wicked Provisions has become a festival staple, we’ve picked up several awards along the way, including first place awards, and this year we’re coming back with some big things to share.
We’ll be unveiling The Four Horsemen: Collector’s Art Series, and we can’t wait for you to try the new and improved Flaming C**k — which just so happens to be the first sauce we ever won an award for at the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival.
To go from showing up with a janky-looking bottle and a big idea to coming back years later with an award-winning brand is pretty damn special.
See you Sunday. 🔥
