Today was a beautiful day in the bee yard! Our annual inspections were conducted by Hannah and Cathy from Tennessee Department of Agriculture. We're currently raising queens to make splits next week, then we will work hard preparing our hives for the upcoming honey flow.

Hilltop Honeybees would like to say THANK YOU for a wonderful 2023 year. We are grateful that you chose our honey for consumption on a regular basis as well as special occasions and holidays. We love to hear that you’ve shared it with family and friends out of state- Arizona, Colorado, and Alaska. We love hearing how you enjoy our honey, whether it’s used to replace artificial sugars, as a healing agent, or in that special recipe. We get a good laugh when you let us know that you enjoy it squeezed straight from the jar into your mouth for a quick sweet treat. From the bottom of our hearts, we are thankful and honored that you chose Hilltop Honeybees for your choice of honey. As we move into 2024, we’re working hard toward another good harvest in the summer and look forward to more sweet stories.

I just returned home after delivering honey to two people: one in Athens, the other in Ten Mile. I find it interesting that both ladies spoke of how God made our food perfect for us to consume, and both ladies were using the honey to combat either allergies or an autoimmune disease. I don’t say all of that to get you to purchase our honey. I say it to give God the glory and bring focus to how he connects people in this world. He supplies our every need. I can also look at the situation as amazing because Michael has read about beekeeping for several years, years before I was diagnosed with an allergy to gluten and a billion other things. I just find it neat how God puts you in the presence of others to help each other. I haven’t had much bread in about 5 years, but I’m anxious to try homemade bread by Emilee Hurst, who has learned to mill her own wheat and has consumed the bread for three weeks with no problems. I truly hope the other lady finds relief from her allergies by eating a spoonful a day.

Hilltop Honeybees was very flattered to be featured in the VEC Tennessee magazine featuring rural TN farming and businesses. We want to thank everyone for their kind words, encouragement, and continued support. Many of you have reached out to us lately about purchasing our honey, but unfortunately, we are currently sold out. Our next harvest will be in June, so we are working hard to prepare our hives for the spring flow. We love sharing this sweet goodness with our family, friends and neighbors. Our community has shown tremendous support and we are so thankful. Keep an eye out here for updates on availability. Thanks for following along!

Mike, Cathy, and Justin from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture visited our home apiary this week to conduct annual inspections. These inspections are required for selling bees or moving equipment throughout the state to ensure no transmission of disease occurs. Pollen samples were taken from several colonies which will be sent to the USDA bee lab in Maryland to analyze for any chemical contaminants. We take the health of our colonies very serious because they are so important to our local environment and the people we supply bees and honey to. Our spring looks to be arriving early this year and we are already busy getting bees prepared for what we hope is another good harvest. Thanks for following along!
