Taking advantage of this rainy day to do some canning with fresh veggies from the garden. Thankful that we can provide all of the ingredients (including the bone broth) from the farm to make vegetable beef soup (the kid's new favorite). Marinara sauce is simmering and next to hit the canner!

Evidence that grazing chickens on pasture helps the fields! I always get a kick seeing the greener grass strips where the chicken tractors have gone through. Especially noticeable today after some good rain yesterday. Raising our poultry on pasture is good for the animals, but also provides the soil with natural fertilizer, aeration when they scratch around, and bug control. We have a few chickens available to reserve for this weekend still if you'd like to try!

Fall calving well underway: this is Lady (our daughters are in charge of naming), daughter of Mrs. Fancypants (yes, odd name but she has the most perfect mustache if you look closely)... And in the distance, you may see a black cow all by herself which has just calved (name TBD, mom is Peanut so they were hoping it would be a heifer calf and had a great name all picked out, but it's a bull calf, so much deliberation is happening this evening!)

So thankful to get to share our bounty with others who want to feed their family with locally produced, high quality pasture raised chicken! We have a few remaining for processing this coming weekend. Also appreciate when you take the time to share feedback, or share our name with friends. We don't even have a website, so seriously are word of mouth around here! If you're in the Chehalis area check out this farmstand Three Sprout Homestead, she came and lent a hand for a couple hours while we processed some chickens and shared seriously the BEST sourdough cookies (I had no idea one could even bake cookies with sourdough!).

Shoutout to LAS Farms and their pasture raised chicken. They raise freedom rangers that they raise in chicken tractors out on pasture. Super happy with the communication, quality and price! Thanks for letting me come over and butcher some of my chickens with you! And thank you for the 10 wonderful chickens we will be eating this fall and winter! 10/10 recommend them for your chicken needs 👩‍🌾🐓 Excited for dinner tonight! Picture of the chicken I just roasted!
