As we close out another month, we just want to say: thank you.

Thank you to everyone who’s stopped by the store, shared our posts, told a friend, or just taken a moment to think about where your food comes from. That kind of attention is what keeps places like ours going.

We’re grateful to be in Tenino, grateful to be part of this community, and genuinely excited about what’s coming next. Stay tuned, and come see us soon.

🐐 New in the store: Lost Peacock Creamery's Feta

If you haven't tried the feta or chèvre from Lost Peacock Creamery in Olympia, that changes now.

Rachael Taylor-Tuller and Matt Tuller (she goes by Chief Milkmaid, and she's earned it) run a working farm just outside of Olympia, where the goats are pastured, rotated, bred on-site, and raised without antibiotics or growth hormones. The philosophy is simple: healthy land, healthy animals, better milk. Everything flows from that.

Their classic chèvre is soft, spreadable, and lightly tangy — made with nothing but sea salt and good milk. It's the kind of cheese that makes you stop and think, wait, why doesn't cheese always taste like this?

And new to our shelves: their feta. Creamy, briny, and worth every bite.

Lost Peacock is exactly the kind of producer we built this store to carry — people doing the work right, close to home, with something genuinely delicious to show for it. Come find them in the dairy case.

We live in a world built for speed — fast food, fast shipping, fast everything. And honestly, a lot of it is convenient.

But the food that sticks with you, the kind you remember and go back for, usually took some time. Time to raise properly. Time to seek out. Time to actually cook.

Colvin Ranch Provisions exists for people who think that time is worth it. We’re not trying to be the fastest option. We’re trying to be the one you feel good about.

Prairies, grasslands, grazers, and the people who steward them. This exhibit + talk series in Olympia is worth your time.

WSU South Sound Agriculture Program and Thurston Conservation District Thurston Conservation District are opening the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists with art, photography, and real conversations about what grasslands mean — ecologically, culturally, and for the future of land stewardship in our region.

If you care about where your food comes from and the landscapes behind it, this one's for you.

Walk through any grocery store, and you’ll find plenty of labels. Price per pound. Net weight. Best by date. Maybe a sticker that says “natural” or “responsibly sourced,” though neither of those terms means much in practice.

What most grocery stores cannot tell you is who raised the animal, what it ate, what the land looks like, or whether the person behind it would stake their family name on the quality.

We can tell you all of that. Because everything in this store comes from people we know — and in the case of the beef, from a ranch that’s been in our family for five generations.

That’s what we mean when we talk about knowing where your food comes from.

We carry fresh eggs from Spotted Frog Farm , and we’re excited about it.

Spotted Frog Farm is a small local operation in Olympia, and their eggs are exactly what you’d hope for from a farm you can actually find on a map: fresh, real, and from hens that live like hens are supposed to.

If you’ve been buying eggs at the grocery store out of habit, this is a good reason to make a stop in Tenino. Grab a dozen while you’re here — and maybe a few other things while you’re at it.

People ask me sometimes why we keep the selection at Colvin Ranch Provisions relatively focused. Why not bring in more products, expand the shelves, cast a wider net?

Honest answer: because I can only vouch for what I actually know.

Every product in this store, I’ve tried. I know who made it, and usually why. I’ve talked to them about their process. And when a customer picks something up and asks me about it, I want to be able to tell them a real story — not just read a label.

That’s not a business model as much as it is a personal standard. And I think it’s the reason people keep coming back. When you shop here, you’re not just buying something off a shelf. You’re buying something I’d put in my own home.
