I know I haven’t posted an update for the 2024 show season. So here is a full recap of the show season. I had only went to 7 shows this summer.

Freedom fest
1st place fall horned Dorset ram lamb
Reserve champion horned Dorset ram.
5th with “ what’s her name” the horned Dorset yearling ewe
2 with “jumper” our fall ewe lamb. Overall I was pleased by that show.

Clay city fair open:
1st with the yearling for her class
1st with the ewe lamb for her class
I had won the senior showmanship class
I was second in the grand showmanship class. The ewe just started to act up.
So overall at the clay city show, I was very pleased with that show. Besides the storm that rolled through.

AAJSS
Second or third with the horned ram
I believe I was 6th with the horned yearling
I was second with the fall ewe lamb. She was just small and green
I had missed my showmanship class because we were the barn up on the hill all the way across the facility.

Vigo county fair
First with the horned ram lamb
First with the ewe lamb and also the yearling
I had won senior showmanship and then nearly won the grand showmanship.
I did not do the best in round robin though.

Youth sheep expo/Great Lakes regional junior sheep show
First place fall ram lamb
Reserve grand champion horned Dorset ram.
I was third in the horned yearling class.
Second with the fall ewe lamb, she was still small.

Indiana state fair 4-h
Third in showmanship with the yearling
6th with the horned yearling
2nd with the fall ewe

Indiana state fair open show
1st fall ram lamb
Third or fourth with the yearling
Third or fourth with the fall ewe

That wraps our show this season.
Good luck to everyone going to NAILE. I will not be showing this year. I also will not be showing at any of the bigger shows next year. Next summer I plan to focus on my bowling career. Good luck to everyone at NAILE and the 2025 show season.

Vigo country fair sheep show completed.
Champion and reserved horned Dorset ewe.
Champion horned Dorset ram
Reserve champion Southdown ram
Champion and reserve polled Dorset wether
Champion pair of wether
Champion senior showmanship winner.

All in all county fair has been a success. I have to show in round robin Thursday.

That a wrap on All American Junior Sheep Show. We didn’t place where we wanted. We were on the bottom line of the classes. But we have some things to work on. Before the next big show. Now we are off to county fair.

IF ANYONE KNOWS SOMEONE WHO MIGHT WANT A PUPPY PLEASE GET AHOLD OF US.

Small update:

Last week Colton went to a small show in clay city. Colton had grand and reserve champion ewe with the horned Dorset and Southdown’s. Colton also won senior showmanship. When champion of champion showmanship came along. Coltons ewe was fighting him more so he was slower to set feet.

Now, we are heading to Lansing Michigan for the All American junior sheep show. Then county fair the following week.

Here is a brief overview of this past weekend at Freedom Fest - Breeding Sheep Jackpot Show. Showmanship was Friday night. I took the horned Dorset yearling out and she just wouldn’t walk for some odd reason. So I didn’t get pulled in the top 5. Saturday I showed Southdowns. With the spring ram I was 6th in his class. He was just rough backed and still green. The Southdown yearling was still green and she didn’t have enough muscle that the judge was looking for. Then I had a small Southdown ewe lamb and I was last in her class due to she was still green and she was the smaller one in the class. Thanks to Sargent Family Farm for allowing me to show Southdown’s. Then Sunday came along and I had the reserve champion ram with my fall horned Dorset ram lamb. Then the yearling was 5 in her class. She just wasn’t the best off of her feet as she traveled around the ring. She was also lacking muscle. Then the winter ewe lamb was still green and she was just small. We had a great time even though we didn’t do very well in the show ring. We are done showing until the all American junior sheep show in Michigan.
