A Special Piece of Terre Haute Brewing History 🍻
This week, we had the honor of welcoming the family of Oscar Bauer, one of the original owners of Terre Haute Brewing Company from the early 1900s.
Oscar’s grandson, Edward—now in his 80s—traveled in from out of state with his sons Chris and Weston, along with his grandson Austin, to visit the place where their family’s story is rooted. For Edward, this wasn’t just a visit—it was a return to where he grew up and where generations of history were made.
As part of their visit, the Bauer family presented us with an incredible gift:
a large, framed portrait of Oscar Bauer, now proudly hanging in our taproom for everyone to see.
To make the moment even more special, Mike—who helped restart the brewery in 1999—joined us for the tour, connecting the past and present of THBC in a way that doesn’t happen every day.
This is what Terre Haute Brewing Company is all about—honoring our history while continuing to build something special for the future.
👉 Stop by the taproom, grab a beer, and take a moment to check out Oscar Bauer’s portrait. You’re not just visiting a brewery—you’re stepping into a story over a century in the making.
