This heat is relentless and it is really hard on the livestock, especially the older ones. I have several horses in their mid to late 20s. I’ve kept horses pretty much my whole life and had hundreds of them and in that time I’ve only had two horses colic. This week three of my oldest horses have colicked. I’ve owned them most of their lives and they’ve never had any issues. I noticed it right away and treated them and I think they’re going to be OK. I can’t help but think this heat has to have something to do with it. I can definitely say this is the driest I have ever seen it here, even those little weeds with the yellow flowers are dead and those things are pesticide resistant. Small pond is completely dry and the big one is very low. I will be so glad for cooler, weather and rain.
