U.S. CATTLE REPORT 🔍 What’s Really Changed? 🔍 Border Talk, Argentine Beef, and a $55 Drop
Since October 14th, November Feeder Cattle futures have fallen $55.60, while boxed beef has risen $13.84. Over the past 16 sessions, the feeder cattle board has closed lower 11 times—including four limit-down days of $9.25, along with steep declines of $13.75 and $7.60.
Though the stated goal was to bring beef prices down, it’s calf prices that have taken the hardest hit, with some dropping as much as $100/cwt. Meanwhile, boxed beef has continued to climb, and cattle futures have collapsed—despite no significant changes in market fundamentals.
The possibility of the border reopening has always been on the table, though opinions remain split. Even with that possible, the broader supply picture could still tighten, especially depending on developments with Brazil. These extreme market moves are not grounded in supply-and-demand realities.
