Hey all, we are going to close a half hour early today, at 12:30. Thanks for your understanding!
YES we are open, but will be closing at 12:30.
While the weather is icky (though the ice is pretty), the roads were clear for us coming in this morning.
Come see me and the little cowboys at the store today!
We are fully stocked with
Hudson Henry Baking Co. Granola
Shenandoah Spice Company Spices
Birdie's Pimento Cheese
Village Cheese Works Cheeses
LONE OAK Coffee Company Coffee
Matthew's Apiaries Honey

For your Christmas shopping!!
And π€we'll be restocked on some of our more popular steaks soon!
So, I am not done with my Christmas shopping yet, anyone else?
This year just seems to be so busy, so if you're like me, let us help! We have a ton of local made products that would make great, practical gifts, and we even have some baskets so you can build your own basket!
Not sure what to get someone? We also have gift cards you can load with whatever dollar amount you want.
And don't forget our beef sample bags!!
P.S. that new Farmhouse candle is my favorite...its cinnamon and vanilla. I am not a huge fan of overly sweet candles and I think it balances those two scents very well!
Come see us today (Thurs) 9-1

Sat 9-1
These rainy days have me making all sorts of comfort food...roasts, soup, muffins with jam, you name it!
I currently have a chuck roast thawing to put in the slow cooker tomorrow, which already has me thinking about roast beef sandwiches. If you have not tried a roast beef sandwich with pimento cheese on it, try it and thank me later...so good!
We have plenty of beef roasts, our new line of pimento cheeses, granola, pretzels (there are even a few pretzel buns if you want to make a pretzel sandwich) and all our other goodies in the store today, come see us!
π π!!!!
Santa π
delivered some packages today that I am so excited to share with you guys...more Virginia made food products to shop in the store!
This Hudson Henry Baking Co. granola is so good, and I love that there are smaller, "individual" portions and larger "to share" bags!
And I love good pimento cheese...and these Birdie's Pimento Cheese have some fun twists (smoke gouda and roasted red pepper...yum!)
These will be available in the store tomorrow, and don't forget it's also pretzel Wednesday!!
See you

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!
We are so thankful for all our customers, neighbors and friends and hope you each have a wonderful day and weekend!
Just a reminder, we are closed this week to spend time with family and celebrate Mike's grandmother's 103 birthday!!
We look forward to seeing everyone again next week.
Happy Thanksgiving!! π¦
I LOVE β€οΈ the versatility of our "blueberry" muffin mix. Don't let the blueberry fool you, you can add so many different fruits or other options instead!
This morning I made a batch and once the batter was in the muffin tin I added a small teaspoon of our Christmas Jam to 3, and sprinkled 3 with some cinnamon sugar on top!
Earlier this week I made a batch with chopped up apples mixed with cinnamon sugar, and we also enjoy them as blueberry π
This mix (and maybe some jam?) Would make an aweome gift, it makes throwing together some muffins so easy!
PS there are only 2 muffins pictured because my boys ate all the others!
Ok y'all. You know that family is going to be in and out over Thanksgiving, and that everyone will be over turkey by next Thursday, so we are doing a ground beef sale tomorrow (Nov 17) through Saturday, November 19 so you can stock up on some non-turkey protein to throw together a quick, easy meal for however many guests may be coming over!
$1 off/lb on all our ground beef. Come grab some and some steaks for yourself when everyone leaves π
π Those coolers mean that we'll have a restock on beef when the store opens today at 1!
In not so happy news we will not have pretzels today. But we did also restock on some jelly's and jams and have some new items.
This is the last week to shop with us before Thanksgiving, so come see us
Today (Wednesday) 1 to 5
Thursday 9 to 1
Friday 1 to 5
Or Saturday 9 to 1
If you swung by the store Friday or Saturday and got to visit with our friend Tamara, this is why...we are so grateful for our customers and our friends who help us and support us so we can support the next generation!
Rainy days always make me want to bake and make comfort food...anyone else?
Unfortunately we are packing up for our little cowboy's last show of the year today, so there will be no baking/cooking for me today - but that doesn't mean you can't! Swing by the store today from 1-5...we have plenty of chuck roasts (pot roasts and beef stew anyone?), stew meat, ground beef (meatloaf, meatballs for spaghetti, chili?) as well as apple crisp mix, blueberry muffin mix, corn bread/muffin mix, some butter rolls and more!
Our good friend Tamara will be in the store today to help you out!
Pretzels are going to be a little late today, but should be here by about 2!
And if you haven't tried them yet, don't forget to swing by and try some of our new products!
We had a mom's night off tonight and went to the Bistro at Goodstone Inn & Restaurant for dinner with the littles for the first time since they started doing Bistro nights on Monday and Tuesdays.
Everything that we had was excellent from appetizers to drinks, main dishes and even dessert (bonus, they use our beef in several dishes!).
If you haven't been yet, we recommend it...in fact we'll be going back with some family soon!
For those of you that hunt, or anyone who enjoys wild game, don't forget that we sell beef fat (which makes a great addition to deer if you are making sausage) and wild game seasoning!
We've had several people ask recently if we are open all year long and the answer is YES!
Unlike some of the seasonal farmers markets, we are open all year so that you can shop local products throughout the year. We do close for a few days around the holidays to spend time with family, but will always share when we will be closed so you can plan ahead!
Come see us year round Wed-Sat!
Many of you who have shopped in the store have commented on the beautiful pottery we had, so we're excited to share that you'll now be able to shop directly with Big Dog Pots Pottery - www.bigdogpots.com at the Archwood Green Barns Farmer's Market on Sundays! Be sure to swing by and visit Lori inside the barn!
Shop Unique Handmade Pottery by Bigdogpots located in Marshall, Virginia. Smooth shipping! Has a history of shipping on time with tracking. Speedy replies! Has a history of replying to messages quickly. Rave reviews! 95% or more recent reviews were 5 stars.
My husband has jokes y'all π€£
But seriously, I feel like we haven't mentioned some of our "staple" products in a while...one of them being our LONE OAK Coffee Company coffee.
It is all that we drink at the house now...you can't beat fresh, locally roasted beans! Most of what we carry is whole bean (because freshness) but we do keep a little bit of ground AND we sell grinders!
If you haven't already, come try it!
We have something a little different in the store today...mini "butter loaves"!
They are the same dough as our super popular butter rolls, baked in to small loaves. They're perfect for a small piece of toast, or to slice and serve with soups, stews, roasts, etc!
Good morning π and happy Wednesday!
Due to illness, we won't have any fresh pretzels today, but we do have some frozen ones available!
And our youngest had a run in with the school playground resulting in a fractured clavicle, so rolls and maybe bread will not be available until Friday.
BUT I do still have some pumpkins, come grab some at 50% off and we have our new products, including a blueberry muffin mix I used this morning along with some fresh blueberries to make muffins (when you have a broken bone on Tuesday, muffins on Wednesday just seem to make sense π€·ββοΈ).
Come see us today 1-5
Thurs 9-1
Fri 1-5
Sat 9-1
It was a Store at Locust Hill products breakfast at our house this morning...buttermilk pancakes, maple sausage patties and butter rolls!

Tomorrow (Saturday, October 29th) all pumpkins are buy one, get one 50% off.
Details: 50% discount applies to a pumpkin of equal or lesser value. Valid on in store purchases, no holds. All sales final.
Come see us tomorrow from 9-1 to snag some pumpkins for decorating (we still have a few heirloom pumpkins) or carving!

I have been (impatiently) waiting for these products to arrive so that I could share...
We are now carrying a selection of baking mixes, jams and preserves, salsas, apple sauce, salad dressing, pickles and even a bloody Mary mix!
Our boys absolutely love the Christmas Jam and Honeycrisp Apple Sauce (bonus- it's no sugar added!) and we have also enjoyed the corn bread mix and buttermilk pancake mix (this makes pancake mornings super easy!).
The roasted garlic parmesan dressing is also fabulous.
These would be great in gift baskets (the holidays are coming...)
We can't wait for you to try them!
It's Wednesday which means I'm stocked up on fresh soft pretzels, pretzel rolls and pretzel bagels from The Preppy Pretzel, AND I have 4 packs of fresh (came out of the oven this morning) butter rolls in the store!
In case you're looking for inspiration, our beef maple sausage patties would fit perfectly on a roll for a yummy breakfast (or breakfast for dinner!) sandwich π...and conveniently there are 8 in a pack for each!
Open 1-5 today
Thurs 9-1
Fri 1-5

Brrr...π₯Ά there was a definite chill in the air this morning!
What is your go to meal for colder weather...?
Chili? We have ground beef AND chili seasoning to make getting a pot of chili going easy!
Beef stew? We have soup bones and stew meat that you can add your favorite veggies to for a perfect pot of beef stew!
Vegetable soups more your thing? We still have some butternut squash, perfect for roasted butternut squash soup!
How about a roast? We have chuck, bottom round, sirloin tip, brisket and more!
And don't forget, we have carving pumpkins (large and medium) and small selection of some really cool heirloom pumpkins as well as some mini pumpkins and gourds (perfect for decorating your fall table) available!
Ok y'all...we are restocked on beef AND we have some new beef sausage options for you to try!!!
And if that wasn't enough, it's pretzel day and we have several packs of butter rolls.
Come see us 1-5 today.
It's a beautiful fall π day, perfect for decorating for the season (or Halloween if you are like our 7 year old!)
Come see us for carving pumpkins and decorative heirloom pumpkins and gourds (including 2 really cool jumbo pumpkins!) and other goodies!
We have a few rolls and bread left, some winter squash, and some fall spice mixes including pumpkin pie spice, apple pie spice and mulling spice!
And in other news, we'll be restocking on beef next week and introducing some beef sausage!

So we do have some more packs of butter rolls in the store today...and there is 1 loaf of Italian herb bread left!
They go great with a chuck roast and/or soup or stew, which would be perfect for today's weather!
UPDATE: We are sold out of halves for our October and November dates. THANK YOU!
It's been a while since we've been able to offer this BUT we have a few halves available for October processing date, which means they would be ready for pick up mid-November.
Want to stock up on beef and save a little bit of money? This is a great way!
Halves and wholes are $4.50/lb based on hanging weight and WE pay the processing fee! You get to choose exactly how you want your beef cut...steak thickness, roast size, what you keep as steaks and roasts and what you grind, you name it!
We do require a deposit of $250/half or $500/whole.
Stock up for winter/the holidays with some great beef at a great price!
Send us a message or email [email protected] if you are I interested. They will be available first come first serve until filled, and then we will start taking deposits for our November processing date.
Ok carb lovers...today is your day in the store!
Fresh soft pretzels AND a few loaves of fresh homemade bread and rolls; come get them while they last!
We are constantly exploring options to be able to offer a variety of products to you, and so I have all the questions right now, because I want to make sure we are offering things you want!
If we started offering a limited selection of homemade bread (probably rustic white, maybe wheat and some Italian herb) and some packs of rolls, would anyone be interested?
These would be limited quantities each week, and we may be able to take a few specific requests, but not a ton. Thoughts?
Growing up we kept a cornbread muffin premix in the freezer all the time so that if we wanted to make cornbread all we had to do was add an egg, some milk and some oil and bake.
If we offered a similar mix in the store, who would be interested? (PS I am team sugar in my corn bread, so it would definitely have a little...)

Sad news...due to a fur baby emergency, we will not have fresh pretzels in the store today, but we do have some frozen ones available, and of course, lots of other goodies! Come see us: Today (Wed) 1-5 Thurs 9-1 Fri 1-5 Sat 9-1
We have restocked on several cuts, including London Broil (the cut in the video). We have found that London Broil is one of those cuts that can be a little intimidating if you're not sure how to prepare it, but it is a fan favorite in our house. Because London Broil comes from the top round it can be a little tougher and is very lean, which means it works great with a marinade and not overcooking π Our go to marinade for this cut is soy sauce, a little rice vinegar, minced ginger and honey (from our store π). Mix everything up and put it in a gallon ziploc bag with the meat. For this, the longer it sit, the better, so if I am thinking ahead I'll mix it all up the night before and let it sit in the fridge until the next night for dinner. When you're ready to cook, pull the bag out of the fridge and let it sit on the counter for 15-30 mins so the meat can come to close to room temperature. Turn the oven on high broil and place the London Broil on a baking sheet and broil 5-7 minutes on each side (depending on how done you want your meat and how thick the cut is). Then pull it out of the oven and let it rest at least 10 minutes (told you, I really am working on that!). Then slice and serve! This is one of our kiddos favorite dinners, and as long as you don't over cook it, it is delicious and fairly tender as well! We are open today, swing by and see us to grab your own London Broil or your favorite cut!
So what exactly is in our beef bags?? 15-20 lbs of meat in a mix of roasts, steaks and ground beef. Each one is a little different, but they are all a great way to sample lots of different cuts, enjoy some yummy beef and save a little money (each bag contains at least $160 of product and retails for $145). And they make great Christmas gifts π
Some new items in the store...come see us and check them out! Today until 5 Thurs 9-1 Fri 1-5 Sat CLOSED π2152 Zulla Rd
Have you picked up your fall decorations yet?? We still have pumpkins and cornstalks available, swing by to grab yours!
Exciting news... Our mini farmers, who are the brains behind the eggs at the store, have partnered with some friends that have a pond to bring you duck π¦ eggs (great for baking!)!! Come see us at 2152 Zulla Rd. tomorrow from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to grab some with your beef, cheese and spices! P.S. Did you know all our eggs (π and π¦) are unwashed? Eggs naturally have a "bloom" on them that helps keep bacteria out and the eggs fresh, so we don't wash them.
Do you know what happens a week from tomorrow?? The rescheduled Virginia Angus Association GIFT Sale! We're excited to be able to offer a spring cow calf pair and two spring bred heifers in this year's sale. Preg. check info available on sale day. Questions? Send us a message! We hope to see you next Saturday, June 13 at Woodside Farm in New Market. Catalog link in comments π
