Our Story
We are two over-50 individuals who in our past lives were IT Systems Administrators in cities. We have come full circle and gone back to the country, in the state of our youth - Minnesota. We have gratefully exchanged life in the fast lane, to life in the slow lane. We live a quiet, lovely life on 10-acres of pastureland, yard, and garden, nearly surrounded on all sides by woods...within which is a pond our geese sometimes visit to splash around in. We organically grow heirloom vegetables for our own use, including sometimes for barter. We raise various fowl including chickens and turkeys, selling eggs when we have extra. Our birds roam freely during the day, and are penned at night with their guardian, Livestock Guard Dog, Gandalf, a Maremma sheep dog; he is a great guard dog, and protects our livestock very well, despite not one of them being a sheep! We also have a small (but growing) apiary we call Bill's Bees. We are currently crowdfunding for the Bees for Vets project. This project will bring veterans to the farm to learn beekeeping as a form of therapy. For more information, please see https://www.gofundme.com/beetherapy Farmer Bill enjoys hunting deer, to provide additional meat for us. Farmer Trish hangs laundry on a clothes horse in winter, and on a clothesline in summer. Whiskers, and Fergus catch mice and the occasional bird when they are not purring on our laps.
