🐄🌽🚜

The annual corn harvest is underway! We chop and gather the corn, then bring it to our farms to mound and pack into feed bunks. We then cover the piles with plastic and weigh them down with tires so the corn can ferment into silage, which is even more nutritious for our cows. It's not just the corn kernels--it's the leaves, husks, cobs, and all. Cows love it, and they eat this all year, mixed with grass, alfalfa, and other nutrients. So if you see ginormous covered piles on the farm, know that it's corn and great food for cows!

Corn chopping has officially started, which means my favorite time of the year, feeding the human crew coffee, lunch and dinner! 🌽🚜

We grow all our own corn. This corn will be stored in a feed bunk, covered with plastic and tires, and then left to ferment for several weeks. Then we'll start feeding it to our cows!

This will feed our cows until we chop corn again next year! 🐄
