Summer is here, which means it’s time to train the alpacas and kids for 4-H.

On our farm we are all about happy alpacas, fiber usage, and community. Donating our alpacas to local kids to use in the 4-H program is part of that community outreach. It’s also super fun watching the alpacas and kids grow through the summer.

Stop by the Northwestern Michigan Fair is August to see Lily llama, Adel, Morning Glory, Chase, Captain America, Moondoggie, and Falcon in action.

And now they’re naked and ready to enjoy summer. Some are grazing, some are finding their bestie (via butt sniffs), and some are sound asleep in the sun (it’s always Adel).

To non-alpaca people they may look thin. In reality, our entire herd is overweight and needs a diet.

It’s 7:30am. The girls and I are in the barn waiting for the shearing team to arrive. Everyone knows what is coming and even my favorite girls won’t snuggle today. Nibbler is the exception. She is always ready for love and when she is anxious she really wants love. Hold tight girls, shearing only takes about seven minutes each.

New Product Alert!

Jason's been hard at work breaking in our sock machine and he has a new set of heavyweight boot socks available online. These socks are soft and fluffy, extra thick, and they sit higher on the calf to make sure both your feet and your legs stay protected from the elements.

This is a small batch run so socks are only available for retail customers.

This handsome guy turns 14 today! Leviticus is super smart, sassy, and king of the boy paddock. He can drop and breed any female because the ladies love him and they all want a date with him. He’ll be having some birthday carrots as soon as the rain stops today.
