Welcome to Barnyard Shenanigans
Where the chickens gossip, the ducks talk back, the rabbits multiply overnight, the hogs act like they own the place, and the goats… well, the goats are definitely up to something.

Sold out at the farmer's market this morning again and sold 2 rabbits this afternoon. But then I had someone send me on a wild goose chase to deliver some chickens to some IDOT workyard with no trespassing signs. Would you try again tomorrow or think you got punked?

Good Morning, breakfast is served and we have already had the first chicken sale of the week, all by 7:30 am.

Happy Fathers Day! The blackberries are just starting to ripen and I picked enough for cobbler. There may or may not be more berries in my belly than in my basket lol.

Some people read what they want and not what was said. Now stating experience instead of debating and AI SS is disagreeing somehow with something I dont disagree with. This started on post was in page for people that have a milk cow not big farms and this factory farmer is failing to read the room and twisting in a simple statement that I had experience into somehow claiming I disagreed when I didnt actually disagree as claimed.
It is very common to have benign corpus lutus cysts and other delays to ovulation within the first 60 days after a dairy cow calves. This is for a variety of reasons including high production or nutritional deflicts and yes an unresolved corpus lutem can be view on sonogram. This is common and no need for treatment in most cases unless the cow is not cycling and settled by 120 days or is cronicly cystic acting like shes in heat all the time. However in factory farming they will start hormones at 45 to 60 days to prevent this. They use methods that result in a significant percentage of cows calving less than 12 months apart and the cows being burnt out by age 5. I dont approve of factory farming practices and never have.

So for the record I do know Im talking about when it comes to breeding dairy cattle. I come from a commerical dairy farming background milking 100 to 180 head over the years. Ive delivered over 300 calves, we used AI, embryo transfers and had bulls sent out to stud farms. I was on the cover of Dairy Today and I trust my own experience over someone ss of what an AI search told him. The hallmark sign of a cronically cystic cow is acting like its in heat all the time.

πŸ”πŸ₯£ Chicken Math Is Different
Me: "That feeder holds 200 pounds of feed."
Chickens: "So... enough for breakfast?" πŸ‘€
This old 55-gallon barrel holds 4 bags of feed and keeps me from dragging feed sacks across the farm every other day. πŸ’ͺ
The chickens still gather around it like they've survived a famine. πŸ™„πŸ˜‚
πŸ“ 200 pounds of feed πŸ“ 0 pounds of gratitude
