It’s Handmaker’s Swap time again!! This past summer we did our first seasonal Handmaker’s Summer Swap. It was an amazing gathering of creatives! People brought everything from handmade necklaces, home grown mushrooms, teas, seedlings, tie dye tea towels and much more! We sat around and talked about projects we dream of doing and who has creatively inspired us in our lives. We all went home with a basket full of goodies and a warm heart.

Well, it’s time for the Handmaker’s Fall Swap! Here’s how it works. Come down to Lively and sign up to be a part of this event. Then make 20 handmade items and bring them to Lively on September 26th. You will get to fill your basket with 20 wonderful handmade items.

Not sure what to make? Here are some ideas. Baked goods: cookies, mini loaves. Art: paintings, cards, tote bags. Jared goods: jam, vanilla extract, syrups. Garden: seedlings, herbs, bouquets. Body: soaps, candles, chapsticks.

Back by popular demand! We are placing one more order this season. These trees and bushes turned out gorgeous and bigger than we expected. No chemicals are used on these beauties.

What’s new this order? We’ve added in maples trees, roses, hydrangeas and a few other shrubs.

There are so many misconceptions about homeschooling. There’s also a lot of stereotypes that don’t apply to most homeschool families. While there’s so much I could say about all of that I’ll share with you the first things that come to mind that make homeschooling special to me.

I have kids who operate at different paces. With homeschooling I can respect their process. One of my kids needs more breaks involving movement to process information. I’ve learned that my other one will show me when her brain is ready to advance to the next level. Each child has their own rhythms, processes and paces. It’s a disservice to send my child to a classroom of 30 with one teacher who, try as she might will never discover these technicalities of my kids.

But you know what else? It’s a whole other level of connection that I’m privileged to have as their mother to get to know them in this way. It creates a family bond that many don’t realize is missing.

It’s one of the most special decisions we’ve made.
