We have lots of mamas on the farm and we couldn't do anything here without each one of them, human or otherwise. We are so grateful for the integral part women play in nature and celebrate them today and everyday.

And now we have goslings! I have been wanting Sebastopol geese for quite some time. They are just so fabulous with their curly feathers! I found a breeder, and my husband being the enabler he is, picked them up for me today! I could not be happier to welcome them to the farm and watch them grow. 😍

Water glassing eggs! The girls have kicked into high gear recently and we're up over 50 eggs every day. This form of preservation allows us to store the eggs for later in the year when maybe we aren't getting so many.

Today was one of those days on a farm where you question all your life choices. We found one of our pregnant cows in distress and after waiting about 90 mins for the vet to arrive we acted as fast as we could. About 20 minutes after they arrived we lost mama and began a c section to see if we could save her bull calf. Unfortunately, we lost both of them in about 40 minutes. These are those character building moments that are never fun, but oh so prevalent in farm life. I'm grateful to my neighbors who were there guiding and supporting us, my kids who ran back and forth from the pasture to the house and a dear friend who drove 30 to assist until the vet could get there. Certainly not the outcome we had hoped, but that's life on a farm.

These scones were made with our farm fresh milk, cream, eggs and my sourdough discard. Gah! They were SO good!

Nothing says the day of rest like an escaped cow herd and broken fencing. 🤦‍♀️
