Tillman Creek Farm

Tillman Creek Farm Homesteading looks glamorous on Pinterest. Here? Not so much. We’ve got feral kids, entitled goats, sarcastic chickens, and a mom wired like a goat on espresso.

Chaos, raw moments, swearing & sweetness- we raise goods, laughter, and a little hell.

We all know about the crazy cat ladies. It’s the crazy goose ladies they don’t warn you about!

These are the kind of videos I get all day long! Now, calling my wife crazy is like calling the sky blue and acting like it’s a new discovery. We all know! 🤣

All jokes aside here’s the real story. This is freebie. She was found one day in the dog yard at Muddy Paws Pet Care & Training Services where Paige has one of the best “at home feel” boarding businesses I have seen. Some of which are bird dogs. Needless to say Freebie is lucky Vanessa found her when she did!Since the flock was quick to reject her being a lone goose I didn’t have the heart to just let her die so she is staying with us TEMPORARILY until she’s big enough to blend in with the rest of the flock.

I think she’s really close. My wife disagrees. What do you think??

If you want to learn how freebie got her name give us a follow and we’ll share that next!

Listen! I am not a framer… I dont have any plans. Hell, I don’t even have the right tools to make this perfect. But, what I do have is a vision (a wife telling me what she wants). Today wasn’t about finishing something. It was about BUILDING something because this is where it all begins.

This isn’t what I call work. This is what I call building a life you don’t need a vacation from. It’s 4 projects on the back burner, weeds needing to be pulled, animals that need fed. This isn’t perfect, it’s reality.

This is just the beginning! Baby steps forward may not feel like much. But one day you’ll look back at where you started and be proud of how far you’ve come.

Farming, homesteading, or even growing a simple garden isn’t about doing everything all at once. It’s taking small steps forward and making mistakes in between.

You won’t save much money growing a basket of strawberries. But if you thought growing them yourself required a “green thumb” you will never forget the taste of your first home grown strawberry and that’s what it’s all about.

Homesteading, farming, or being a steward of the land ain’t easy! But it’s moments like these that make every ounce of blood, sweat, and tears worth it.

You don’t need the perfect chicken coop, you likely won’t start with a dream garden. But if you never start at all you’ll never understand what you’re capable of.

Just because you planted 1 tomato plant and it died doesn’t mean you can’t grow them. Maybe it was a weak plant, maybe it didn’t get enough sun, maybe the soil you put it in was too acidic or starved of nitrogen. Failure isn’t the end. It’s part of the process and when you do get to enjoy the fruit of your labor you appreciate moments like these even more!

Mark this day in your calendars! Our vision is bigger than our farm ever will be. Our goals you ask?

1. To teach families they are more capable than they realize. Essential skills have been traded for convenience and we’ve told ourselves the lie that growing plants requires a “green thumb”

2. We want to help show families how easy it is to get started and to not fear what you don’t understand. “But how?”

For now we only have 850 followers so every like, every comment, every follow, and every share gets us one step closer to monetization. We plan on donating a percentage of all our profits to fund and install gardens big and small eventually building community gardens and so much more.

But we can’t do it without your support! Send this post to your friends, a family member, or someone who wants to be apart of a movement that brings communities back together and makes families more resilient for generations to come!

Ryan Gosling and his ladies got to free range for their first time! We missed to goose zoomies but it went something like this:

Geese take off like an airplane on a runway.

Me to Vanessa “Uhhhh their wings aren’t clipped, can they fly?!”

Vanessa “Guess we’re about to find out!”

They did not take flight but I cannot confirm that they didn’t think about it!

Freebie is taking some notes! Save this post so you don’t have too!

Quick tutorial on how to install some watering cups. Less waste, water stays clean, and using the darker buckets helps slow the growth of Algae.

We order ours off Amazon and we’ll leave the link in the comment!
