We're ready!!! Our strawberry plants are set to arrive this coming week and we have their beds all ready for them. Did you know that in central Alabama the strawberries you enjoy in the spring were planted the previous October?

These rows are covered in a plastic mulch that helps reduce w**d problems, aids in maintaining soil moisture and increases irrigation efficiency by reducing water loss due to evaporation and runoff. Our drip irrigation lines run under the plastic and deliver water and nutrients right where it is needed. Plastic mulch also helps with production in the cool season by warming the soil temperatures. We use plastic mulch as a part of our integrated pest management (IPM) system which allows us to focus on preventative measures for plant/farming pests and problems.

Okra flowers are short-lived, usually blooming for just ONE day. We caught this bee right on time, pollinating before the flower closes for good! It’s a quick but important process and without pollinators like this one, we wouldn’t have the okra pods that follow.🐝

Summer CSA can’t get here fast enough 😂 The blueberry orchard is loaded and we are checking it daily lol… just in case 😉 What summer fruit or veggie are you impatiently waiting for?
