We'll be at the Portage Market again this year! Come on out and see us Sunday and get some fresh vegetables. We'll have micro greens, lettuce, radishes, kale, asparagus, and more. 🫜🥬

Can you believe that it's almost May? The Portage Zhang Farmers Market opens this Sunday, May 3! What are you most looking forward to at the market this year? 🍅 🌼 🧀 🥗

✨ We are open on Sundays, May through mid-October, from 9 AM to 1 PM. The season starts at Portage City Hall (7900 South Westnedge Avenue), and we'll move to our new permanent location at 125 East Centre on May 31.

Spending Sunday afternoon hauling all of our seedlings out of the hoop house and back into the barn to protect them from the cold the next couple days is not my idea of fun. But when we are always pushing to get crops out into the field as early as possible sometimes this extra effort is needed.

Now nearly every flat surface in our heated wash room is covered with trays of plant seedlings. And I felt like it was crowded with plants before today! Soon enough we will be able to get them back outside and planted into beds in the garden.

🌱 Lock in your produce budget now — before grocery prices climb even higher.

We've all seen it: the cost of fresh vegetables keeps going up, and there's no sign of it slowing down. But here's the thing — when you join our CSA, you're locking in a fair, stable price for the entire season.

A full summer share works out to $40 per week for 16 weeks of farm-fresh, seasonal vegetables. That's less than most families spend on produce at the store — and the quality of grocery store produce isn't even close to the quality when you get it directly from our farm.

If prepaying for the entire year feels like too much (believe us, we get it), we break the year into multiple CSA season. The next upcoming season "spring 2026" is the shortest CSA season we offer and is a great way to try out our CSA without making a huge financial commitment.

Think about it: while grocery prices keep climbing, your CSA investment stays the same. You know exactly what you're paying, and you know exactly where your food is coming from.

Winter has returned again, but despite the cold and snowy weather, we still have space in our CSA program this winter if you want an every-other-week box of delicious produce, mushrooms, proteins, preserves, and bread.

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, it's like a farm subscription, and ours gives you access to a wide variety of food you can get from our farm, including fresh produce (even in winter), storage crops, mushrooms, microgreens, dried and preserved foods, animal proteins, fresh breads, and more. The best part is that your box is almost completely customizable, based on what we have available each week.

Despite the winter weather so far, when the days are a bit sunny and above freezing we are out harvesting crops like these radishes, and getting seeds planted for an early spring harvest. All three of our hoop houses are fully planted, and with days starting to get longer we are excited!

Our next CSA produce share season starts on January 16, and features a mix of storage crops, fresh crops harvested from the field when possible, animal proteins, breads, mushrooms, and micro greens. We offer fully customizable boxes that you pick up every-other-week during January, February, and March.
