Welp, I decided to disbud. Every expert has a different take about letting the newly planted roses bloom. No blooms the first year? Let them do their thing? Let them double in size at least first?

I let them bud and a few bloom for a few weeks out of curiosity. Then the deer decided to disbud a few for me. Helpful.

It’s still early, and there isn’t much else blooming, so the roots won and they were all disbudded. The plants look relieved, honestly.

If you think that I am carrying these buds around my neck in a little jar so I can marvel at them and smell them too much, you’re right about that. I’m also talking really loudly about them at 7am..

New bud jar necklaces will be available soon. They’re sure to be all the rage.
They’re awkward, heavy, uncomfortable, and wet, but they make a whole lot of sense once you walk around with it for a bit.

I was asked to make something way out of my usual. It was a great challenge!

I learned so much from this one ask. How to source non-locally grown flowers, and how to make those flowers behave in ways they wouldn’t normally. It was good adventure.

Award winning for her fragrance. I can’t wait to meet her.

When this growing flowers adventure started, all the experienced folks told me how strangers would share memories of the flowers I was growing, and I would have great conversations about it. I hadn’t really had that yet, though.

Then I started having this pipe dream about roses. Smelly roses, specially. Now I’m hearing stories. Folks are telling me about their mom’s and grandmother’s roses, or their own rose experiences. Fun stuff.

They say it’s possible to grow roses in a field in the Midwest for cut flower production. I’m taking a shot.

If you’re as excited as I am to meet these new additions, leave your email address. You can go to the website and add it. I’m thinking of sending out newsletters about the progress and scents and ruffled petals. It probably won’t be often, but maybe a chance to be the first to experience these locally grown, specially scented roses.

I passed out tonight in my dinner plate. Not quite, but close.

It started with a shallow drainage ditch, then turned into a few pretty deep drainage ditches. Lately, it’s been planting roses. They need a deep hole, but the soil has been worked and is agreeable.

I’m a mole now.

But this post is really about some big news for you! Mother’s Day bouquets will be available this year. A few sizes to choose from. You can preorder on website. It should be easy.

I hear you want to give our flowers to your sweetie (or your bestie) for Valentine’s Day, but you don’t think we have flowers in February. We don’t!

You can still give our flowers for Valentine’s Day!

We will make you a card and a small dried flower bouquet to present on February 14th. Then, they will receive flowers (you choose the size and frequency) 4 times throughout the flower season.

It's easy! Here's how to do it:

Go to website and click on Valentine’s Day Gift Card, then follow these steps

Step 1: Size? Select if you would like a small, medium, or large bouquet. You can also choose an arrangement.

Step 2: How often? The options are once a week, every other week, or once a month.

Have a special message to include in the card? Send the message over either with the purchase, or through your preferred method of communication. 🌸❤️

It's smart to have a recipe and make as many bouquets as possible in an hour and be extremely efficient. I wish!

That's not what happens here at Brick House Flower Farm. (I almost named it "Lollygaggers") Here, I walk around, choosing the flowers for your bouquet until I find the next one that makes me smile the hardest. It takes too much time. I get lost in the wonder of life. Spreading that feeling is the goal of each bouquet. It's completely absurd. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I’m currently doing winter things like taking business trainings so I can keep doing this! (not as much lollygagging as I generally like) Can't wait to see everyone again!
