🪏 It’s planting season!!! You know we are on the prowl for affordable plants to fill up our redesigned garden beds, so we were very excited to hear that is open for the season at the Timonium Fairgrounds. What I love about them is they partner with local growers to be able to offer premium plants at a great price! This means healthy, unique, robust plants!!! It is easily a one stop shop for annuals, perennials, herbs, veggies, fruit, evergreens, groundcover, natives and specimen trees. With new plants coming in everyday, self control will be tested! So write up your plant wishlist and let’s go plant shopping!!! 🪴🪏🌤️

Fun fact about Sam and I, we’re both working 3 days a week with different residential landscaping companies! Honestly, I don’t know how we both ended up here!

This will be Sam’s first season with her employer, while I’ve been at mine for coming up to a year now. We’re so lucky to have found landscaping business owners who see our willingness and enthusiasm to learn, as well as recognize our strengths and how we can be an asset for them and their clients.

It will be so fun for us both to come together and apply new practices and visions to our space!!! We’re absolutely buzzing with inspiration. 🐝🌤️🌳

Hi 🎤 is this thing on? We’re about done with this weather and are non stop thinking about all the work to come at the farm this season. Just wanted to share some considerations and game plan as we are redesigning the garden.

☀️what views are the best views in the area/what do we want our view to be from the pavilion and picnic area
☀️what space do we want to open up to be more inviting
☀️what views do we want to block?
☀️what paths do we want to encourage?
☀️we want people to move throughout the garden so creating paths through border beds instead of cut flower rows.
☀️bring the fire pit closer to the pavilion to be more involved.
☀️what is realistic for us to be able to do— working off of the layout we’ve already created with our cut flower rows but expanding the beds for less grass maintenance.
☀️prioritize beds closest to the pavilion as well as problematic areas that are difficult to maintain first.

In the fall of 2025 we laid 6+ inches of wood chips down on our cut flower beds and paths in hopes to kill the grass underneath by spring. From here, we’ll add shrubs to begin adding structure and year round interest to the garden. These are huge investments that will completely transform our space. We’ve already planted 5 new trees, one spring blooming, 3 evergreen and 1 for shade (…one day 🥲 I swear they were bigger at the nursery). Planted 5 climbing roses in our long bed with the trellises, one day these will be a beautiful backdrop in the distance. We’re excited for all the new things we’ll learn this year with this new direction we’re headed in. Thanks for being here!

Hello world! 🌤️ It’s Sam and Jess, from the bottom of your algorithm!!! If you haven’t noticed, like our internet presence lately, this cut flower growing season has been quiet, almost non existent!

What’s been going on?! Well we are taking this weirdo growing season as a sign and a push to pivot Bloomhouse into its next reiteration, one that it was always planned to be. After our last private event of the season this weekend we will be starting the process of transforming our cut flower rows into a walkable designed garden with evergreens, shrubs and perennials. This type of garden will fair better for us as an event venue, ensuring that there will always be something beautiful to see and discover when you’re here. Maybe most importantly it will relieve Sam and I of the timing pressures that cut flower annuals and farming present, that have been so hard for us to juggle along with our jobs outside of Bloomhouse. Among all other farming issues that arise 😆 It made us take a step back and think, what do we actually want to be doing here?! For us and Toby of , the answer was.. not this!

It’s time to buckle down and really create a space we are proud to show off and happy to maintain. This place can really overwhelm us but that just means it has a ton of potential. We are so excited for what’s ahead for us all at Bloomhouse. Can’t wait to reimagine the space for you and bring you along the process!te
