If you live in Texas and have a live oak tree that looks bad, join the club. 99% will be alright, but short term just keep raking! In North Texas I see new buds on live oaks the week of St. Patrick's Day each year. Don't be surprised if this date gets pushed back in to April. Be thankful you are raking and not busting out the chainsaw.
To trim. or not to trim my crepe myrtles? That is a sensitive subject for some. If you do trim, always cut at an angle. Water will shed off easier and not promote decay and the new growth transition will look more natural. Who needs Heloise, anyway!
