June is here, and the farm is moving into the abundance of early summer.

Each week, we'll be bringing salad mix, power greens mix, onions, garlic, microgreens, carrots, and squash to market. As the month unfolds, we're also hoping to welcome the first mango melons and ground cherries of the season, arriving in limited quantities by mid to late June.

The fields are changing quickly now, with spring crops giving way to summer harvests and new flavors appearing each week. We look forward to sharing the season with you at the market.

The bees are just as excited about summer squash season as we are 🐝🌼

This is our first year growing squash under insect netting in hopes of finally getting ahead of squash vine borers. In past years, we’d get one good picking before the plants wilted and died… so we’re trying something new this season.

Watching the honey bees work the blooms and seeing these tiny squash start to grow feels like a little victory already 💛

Here’s hoping for a long, healthy squash season this year 🌱✨

A simple roast using what’s in season this week 🥕🌿

Roast carrots in the oven until caramelized and tender, about 30 minutes, then add broccolini for the final 5–7 minutes so it stays vibrant and tender.

Finished with olive oil, flaky salt, cracked pepper, a squeeze of lemon, and topped with spicy radish microgreens for a little fresh heat.

Simple farm vegetables, treated well 💚

We’ll be bringing a carefully tended selection of garden-ready plant starts, perfect for summer gardens. Including Ground Cherries, Purple Sweet Potatoes, and Italian basil.

From the garden, our table will be filled with the freshest of the week’s harvest: spring salad greens, baby kale, delicate microgreens, crisp radishes, spring onions, golden beets, carrots and broccolini.

Our pantry section will be stocked with a handful of thoughtful staples: golden honey, small-batch granola, freeze-dried microgreens powder, and eggs gathered fresh from the coop.

May has arrived, and the garden is stretching into its fullest rhythm.

Each week, we’ll be bringing along spring salad mix, baby kale mix, beets, carrots, broccolini, microgreens, and fresh spring onions. We’re also beginning to see the first garlic scapes forming, with a limited supply available in the early weeks, just before the main garlic harvest at the end of the month. Those bulbs, over 1,000 planted last fall, are nearly ready to be lifted from the ground.

A first for our gardens and one we’ve been eagerly awaiting.

Broccolini. Tender, elegant, and just a touch sweeter than traditional broccoli, it has quickly become a favorite in our garden and in our kitchen.

This is our first season growing broccolini, and we’ve devoted over 100 plants to the trial. Watching them flourish has been its own quiet reward.

We’ll be bringing broccolini to the ds_farmersmarket this Saturday. Lightly sautéed, simply roasted, or added fresh to your favorite dishes, broccolini is as versatile as it is beautiful.

We look forward to sharing this new crop with you.
