Cinnamon is soaking up her last few moments of summer in her personal pool.

One thing I love about pigs is how distinct their personalities (or should it be piggialities) are. Some of Cinnamon’s idiosyncrasies:
-turning a fresh, clean water trough into a swimming hole
-always having something to oink about…always…I swear she oinks in her sleep
-going from running to fast asleep in 2 seconds flat
-lifting hog panels with her snout to bust herself, her pig friends, and her goat friends out of the barnyard
-spooning with Foxy every night (Cinnamon is the little spoon)

The pigs broke into one of our pumpkin patches, devouring all but four. Good thing we have little patches of pumpkins and gourds popping up all around the fields. 🎃

Each fall, our farm school families bring their aging pumpkins to Apple Hart Farm to feed our pigs. The pumpkins that grow from the digested seeds are invariably healthier, more vibrant, and more magically diverse than those we plant and water on our own, and they spring up in the most surprising places!

Well, I guess the cycle continues. Plus, as my 3-year-old noted, “Foxy really enjoyed that pumpkin.”

S’mores loves her new back scratchers! And Cinnamon, who you hear squealing, can’t contain her excitement for her turn!

We can’t wait for our Little Farmers at Farm-to-Forest Preschool and Grow with Me, our caregiver-child class, to interact with our piggy girls in a new way!

At Farm Camp, we made Green Bean Fries using beans the campers harvested from the garden and eggs laid by the hens!

One camper exclaimed, “they really taste like fries!” (And our work here is done)

Scroll through for the process from finish to start (it’s cool to see where we ended up then trace the steps back to see how we got there).

Grow with Me Farm School is back at Apple Hart Farm! Join us for a 3-week mini series of play, songs and stories, and, of course, animal snuggles. Your child will make memorable connections with the animal world by grooming our donkeys and goats, feeding our pigs and chickens, and snuggling our cow and bunnies.

Our 9:30AM class is full, but we have space in our 10:45AM series!

Meet Samson - the sweetest mini moo around 🐮

Samson loves touching noses, belly scratches, and following a 3-year-old around the yard.

Quick Foxy Update: After losing his brother and suffering a spinal injury this winter, Foxy was a bit down in the dumps physically and emotionally. Enter S’mores and Cinnamon, two sweet Kune girls. Now, Foxy has a spring in his “seal step” and a reason to oink.
