We had a question on our website from a fan whose father drove a truck for Page Milk Company in Coffeyville, KS until the early 1970s. She was asking about the connection with the dairy and Patti Page. Here's what we know!
A local "girl singer," named Clara Ann Fowler got a job singing commercials for the Page dairies, and also became a friend of the family.
In true storybook fashion, her big break came when a record company heard her and signed her to a recording contract. They didn't think her name was awesome enough for Hollywood, so with permission of the Page family she adopted Patti Page as the name on her ticket to stardom. She also hosted a short country-music show called “Meet Patti Page” sponsored by Page Milk.
Do you remember “Tennessee Waltz,” “Old Cape Cod” and “(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?"
We have a 78 rpm record in our collection. Do you?
