We recently went to a pineapple farm for a fun tour! How cool to see how they are propagated, flowering stages, growing in the field and then harvested. Each plant only grows one pineapple (twice), and then the land is turned under and left for 2-3 years to replenish nutrients before it starts over. One pineapple takes 18 months mature, with their ripening spray. If they didn’t spray, it would take 3 years! So, when you see a pineapple in the store, remember how long it took for that little beauty to get to you! Also, eat it quick! They do not continue to ripen like other fruit once picked, they just start to degrade over about 10-14 days.

While it’s getting dreary and lately so heavy, the sun shines in to remind us of the good that is still here in the world. You may need to look for it, or create it yourself at times. When you do, don’t forget to share it with others! ☀️ I always look forward to the end of the year so I have the opportunity to find joy in the additional daylight each day brings after that shortest day!

Now is the time! If you have Lavender, trim it down like this. See below. ⬇️
Leave about 3” of green stems/leaves. 🪴 If you trim it like a round bush, it will look perfect next year!
It’s a great time to plant new plants because there’s only a couple weeks of watering left this summer (probably…), and then it should start cooling down and Mother Nature will take over for the winter. That’s why we prefer fall planting over spring (or definitely summer) planting.
We will have our yearly plant sale September 6 from 10 AM to 4 PM. Get your plants quick and get them in the ground!
4” $5
Gallon $10

Welcome! Thanks for stopping by our page! Now, a little bit about us...
We purchased a 20 acre piece of gorgeous land in Lewis County back in 2015, and started building a new home. Part way into the process we wondered what to do with all of this land!
Our family had visited the famous Sequim lavender festival and lavender farms in that area for quite a number of years, and was drawn to this lovely herb and its many uses. So, the adventures began!
We initially planted 250 plants in 5 different varieties, the fall of 2016. Lavender seems to be a bit addictive, so we planted about 300 more plants the fall of 2017. Due to the fact that we have no tractor or real equipment, and there are generally only two of us manually raking and planting lavender by hand, the task really took all of our spare time. Thus, the landscaping is nonexistent and the little outbuilding didn’t get finished yet, but having the lavender in the ground was a huge relief! We are not open to the public but have tossed around the idea that in a few years it “might” be an option, on occasion. You just never know!
We finally bought a still this spring so we can offer lavender essential oil this year and even took a class in beekeeping! (Sooooo much to learn about bees....and lavender!) Check back from time to time to see where we might be this summer! We like to attend craft shows and farmers markets with our products.
Please also consider visiting us on https://www.Etsy.Com and search for ToledoLavender. Here, we’ve started exploring on line sales and plan to continue adding products slowly as we get it all figured out. We try to keep our website up to date as well with new products and event dates, but I’m afraid we’re slacking a little bit. www.ToledoLavender.com
