Summer is on its way out, but here's some amazing things happening in August for you to do before it starts getting cold again.
Saturdays in August:
Toledo Farmers' Market from 8am to 2pm with breads, flowers, veggies and more. Check out Lunara Bakery (she sells out FAST so get there early) and head to Souk Mediterranean Kitchen & Bar for their Saturday brunch or head to the new Swanky Scoops 419 (11am to 8pm) right by the Farmer's Market for homemade hand scooped ice cream.
August 7-9th Flag City Balloon Fest in Findlay Ohio. Over 40 hot air balloons up in the sky, food vendors, drone shows, there's a lot going on more info at Visit Findlay
August 7-9th Toledo Jeep Fest 10am Saturday is the All Jeep Parade with people coming from all over the country in their.... Jeeps! Jeep Fest brings in over 100k visitors every year and helps the city economy. Come downtown for the weekend and check out local restaurants and bars that are coming up with Jeep themed drinks and food specials.
August 12th Perseids meteor shower peak. 60+ meteors per hour in nature's free most spectacular night display. Find a dark place away from the city lights, put down a blanket and look up. We're in luck this year with a new moon, meaning no moon. If you want the best viewing Lake Hudson State Rec has a dark sky park but please make sure to obey park rules and dim your car lights when entering and leaving!
August 14-16 Toledo Pride is in it's 17th year as a non profit with one of the most colorful and fun weekends in downtown Toledo. Drag shows Friday night, a parade Saturday at noon, and food trucks, performances, live music, and more down at Promenade Park from 1pm to 10pm. There's even a Nite Glo 5K. Free.
August 15th Barefoot At The Beach summer beach party for Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo a non profit fundraiser known as the best beach party of the year in Toledo. Get your tickets on their page and come support a cause that helps the youth of our community. I'll be there. 7pm to 11pm 30+ of Toledo's best restaurants, music, fireworks, bonfires and more.
August 16th The Birmingham Ethnic Festival puts on its Hungarian Club of Toledo party with Hungarian food, cultural dances, and more. Chicken paprikas? Hunky Turkey? Yes! But don't be late as I hear some of the food sells out. Located in the Historic Birmingham neighborhood along Consaul St starting at 12pm going to 8pm.
August 22nd Ridin Late in County 48 A late night family friendly slow roll through 9 miles of City of Sylvania, Ohio highlighting parks, businesses, and scenery. If you love biking, go register on their page and take your time to see Sylvania. They've been hit by construction and could use a little attention :)
August 28th-29th German-American Festival (GAF) in it's 60th year. Food, drinking, music, dancing. Put on your dirndl or lederhosen and get ready for brats, sauerkraut, and more.
