Y’all better start learning how to grow your own food.
Because if you keep cheering on illegal and immoral ICE raids, ripping farmworkers from their families and the fields, you’re going to find out real fast what happens when the hands that harvest the food that feeds this nation are gone.
You can’t eat bigotry. You can’t cook up cruelty. Supporting fascism, tearing down democracy, and criminalizing the very people who harvest your food?
That’s not just hateful, it’s stupid.
No justice for farmworkers = no food for your table.
Support human rights. Defend democracy. Respect the humans who so the labor that feeds you.

Bright and early and on the road to my very first event as an Admissions Representative with Unitek College!

Today I’ll be at Community Regional Medical Center for a TEAS Version 7 Information Session, meeting with our amazing Director of Admissions and my coworkers in person, soaking it all in, learning the ropes, and getting a feel for how we support our future nurses as they start their journey with Unitek College.

Excited to observe, learn, and grow alongside such an incredible team!

Making Healthcare Education More Accessible

One of the most important things we can do for our communities is support the people who feel called to care for others, our future nurses, medical assistants, and caregivers.

In my new role as your friendly Admissions Representative, I’m still just as passionate about career development as I was when I was the friendly career development specialist. The only difference now? I get to help our future caregivers take the first real step toward a meaningful and life-changing career in healthcare.

I believe education should be accessible, supportive, and practical. Whether someone is coming straight out of high school, changing careers, or picking up where they left off, the path to nursing or caregiving matters. And no one has to figure it out alone.

When someone is thinking about a future in healthcare, I will be here to answer questions, walk them through the process, and help them make the best choice for their goals. I am so excited to be able to be a small part of making others dream career happen, because our communities need more hearts like theirs. The world needs more caregivers.

A Bittersweet Goodbye & A New Beginning

After more than two incredible years as the Career Development Specialist for Fresno County with OVCDC, the time has come for me to move on to a new opportunity.

Serving my Native community members, supporting their career growth, and working alongside some of the most dedicated and hardworking colleagues has been an honor. This role has been full of challenges, navigating an undeveloped program, working without clear SOPs, and waiting for everything that always seemed to be "in development", but through it all, I’ve been proud to be part of a team that pieces together the resources and supports our participants needs. To the CDSs who continue this work: I admire and respect you immensely.

For those in the field of career development and workforce services, my position should be opening soon! If you're interested, keep an eye out for the posting at www.ovcdc.com/employment/.

Now, I’m excited to take on a new challenge as an Admissions Representative with Unitek College, helping future nurses in the Central Valley begin their journey. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about Unitek, the people, the culture, and the impact, and it’s even a Great Place to Work® certified organization with employee excellence awards to back it up!

Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey so far. I look forward to this next chapter and continuing to make a difference, just in a new way. Here’s to new beginnings! 🎉

🚨 Job Scams Are on the Rise, Stay Safe! 🚨

Job searching is hard enough without having to worry about scams. It’s frustrating, and honestly, unfair that people take advantage of job seekers who are just trying to build a better future. I know how emotionally exhausting the job hunt can be. The uncertainty, the constant applications, and the waiting take a toll. The last thing anyone needs is to get caught up in a scam.

So, please watch out for these red flags:

🚩 Too Good to Be True? If a job promises high pay for little work, no experience needed, or quick cash, it’s probably a scam.

🚩 Upfront Fees? A real employer will never ask you to pay for training, equipment, or background checks before hiring you.

🚩 Shady Emails & Poor Communication? If the offer comes from a generic email (like Gmail or Yahoo) instead of a company domain, or the message is full of typos and vague details, be cautious.

🚩 They Want Your Personal Info Fast? Be wary of employers asking for your Social Security number or banking info before you’ve even had an interview.

🚩 Work-from-Home "Shipping" or "Money Handling" Jobs? If they want you to receive packages, cash checks, or transfer money, run—it’s likely a scam.

Steps to Take Care of Yourself While Job Searching:
Research companies before applying.
Set boundaries, job searching is stressful, so take breaks when needed.
Trust your gut, if something feels off, it probably is.
Lean on your support system, you don’t have to do this alone.

If you do come across a job scam or have been a victim of a job scam, report it to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at reportfraud.ftc.gov or the state labor department.

Job hunting is tough, and I know how draining it can be. Be kind to yourself, stay safe, and don’t let scammers add to the stress. You’ve got this. 💛

🌸 Spring Equinox, Naw-Rouz, & Renewal in Career Growth 🌸

Spring is officially here! The Spring Equinox marks a time of balance, renewal, and new beginnings, as day and night stand in perfect harmony. Many cultures celebrate this season as a time to embrace growth, transformation, and opportunity, including Naw-Rouz (Persian New Year), which symbolizes rebirth and fresh starts.

In many Native American traditions, spring is a time to honor the cycles of life, the renewal of the earth, and the importance of planting seeds, both literally and figuratively. Just as our ancestors prepared the land for future harvests, we can plant seeds of intention in our careers and personal growth.

What can this mean for your career?

✔️ Reflect on where you are and where you want to be.
✔️ Let go of anything holding you back, old doubts, fears, or limiting beliefs.
✔️ Set new goals and take action, no matter how small.
✔️ Embrace growth, just like the changing seasons, change brings opportunity.

The equinox reminds us that balance is key. Job searching, career building, and self-improvement take time, patience, and care. So, as you step into this new season, give yourself the same grace that nature does, grow at your own pace.

What seeds are you planting for your future?
