It’s a beautiful day for a calf! I’ve been a little lax in posting updates this spring…between calving, working, and now planting corn and gardens and all the other stuff, I’m just plain tired! But we are in the final count down, with over 55 calves being born so far on the farm! Definitely a busy spring!

Calving has slowed down a bit, but Sarah sent me a surprise on this beautiful spring day…twin bull calves make #48 & 49! This is our second set of twins this spring!

In a blink of an eye, we are 2/3 of the way through calving. Being exhausted is an understatement (I’m sure Sarah would agree 😉) 43 calves are running around the farm right now, it’s getting hard to tell who hasn’t had a calf yet 😂

Last lamb of the year greeted me when we did chores today ❤️ She is tiny but full of s***k!

It’s a view like this that reminds me that all the sleepless nights and busy day are worth it! We may have had 5 calves born in the last 24 hours, but this is the end goal 🥰 Comfortable, happy, healthy mommas and babies!

Today and Wednesday were busy days for calves…3 each day! Wednesday saw calves being born in snow banks, which meant they needed to come inside to warm up. Today we have mud, but thankfully nobody needed to come inside to warm up! Time for a nap, before the next night check rolls around!

Oh what a weekend! I’m so thankful we have a shed to bring first calf heifers into for calving…between the weather and struggling to get the calves out, it is a life savor! Both these mommas needed help…but everyone is doing good this morning! These, along with 1 other cow make 3 calves I have had to pull in the last 24 hours…add that to walking across the farm/pasture in the middle of the night during a blizzard because the snow drifts were too deep for the UTV means Sarah and I are exhausted this morning. But the show must go on! Todd is plowing so I can at least drive to the barn later and check the new babies!

Let’s play a game of “who is older” 😂 I did the math and the big guy on the right is only 1 day old, and already has 50 lbs on our little Prince, who was a twin who was born 1 month early!

This was our view from the UTV at our noon cow/calf check and mid day lamb feeding. Thankfully we are still able to drive through the pasture since the roads are not very good out there!
