It is chestnut harvesting time at Nuts Edge Farm, south of Tomah, WI. The chestnuts are hitting the ground and are ready for purchase. They are organically produced hybridized American Chestnuts.
The selling price is 5 for a dollar, or $20/pound plus shipping. You can also pick them up to save shipping cost. You can order by emailing "[email protected]".
They are delicious! There are many uses for chestnuts. Here's a few from Google:
1. Eat as a snack: Enjoy warm, plain roasted chestnuts straight from the shell with a dash of salt. Think "roasted chestnuts over an open fire".
2. Add to holiday stuffing: Chop cooked chestnuts and mix them into bread or sausage stuffing for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
3. Blend into sweet spreads: Puree boiled chestnuts with sugar, cocoa powder, and cream to make a rich dessert spread.
4. Bake into gluten-free dishes: Grind dried chestnuts down into a sweet, starchy flour used for specialized cakes and gnocchi.
Of course you can also purchase a few to plant and start your own chestnut orchard.
We have a limited supply. When they are gone, they are gone.
