Another pretty sight here at Circle D Herefords. We found this little Red Man heifer calf, and you’ve gotta love that pigment! We’ve sure enjoyed the heifer streak we’ve been on lately, and we wouldn’t mind seeing it continue. Nothing better than finding a healthy new calf waiting on you during herd checks.

After a great time today at the Walker Herefords Foundation for the Future Sale, I headed home to do my evening herd check. I was blessed to find this little surprise waiting for me when I pulled up. I also couldn't pass up the opportunity to snap a picture of this bull striking a pose while waiting on his evening feed. Be sure to follow along and stay tuned for our upcoming fall private treaty bull sale! We're excited about the bulls we're putting together this year and this may just be our best set yet!

Me, Langston, and Pappy got to do some late-night cattle checks last night, looking for a missing cow—and we ended up finding ourselves a little surprise!

I think a lot of producers could be leaving money on the table by not taking advantage of the tools we have available to us.
A breeding soundness exam and semen check are relatively inexpensive compared to the potential cost of turning out a bull that isn’t getting the job done. An open cow can cost you far more than the price of an exam, so make sure you’re checking those older herd bulls before breeding season begins.
With cattle prices where they are today, it may also be a good time to evaluate those mature bulls. The value of an older bull at the sale barn can put several dollars toward the purchase of your next young herd sire—giving you an opportunity to bring in younger genetics while protecting the productivity of your cow herd.
Know what your bulls are capable of before you turn them out. A little investment now could save—or make—you thousands down the road.
And if a new herd sire is in your plans, stay tuned for Circle D’s Private Treaty Bull Sale this fall!

Animals like this are hard to pass up without stopping to get a good picture or video! She’s got a really good-looking bull that will be available this fall through our private treaty bull sale. We’re excited about what he has to offer and we look forward to seeing what he can do in your pasture and breeding program!
