I don't know who needs to hear this, but...

you do not need to buy new goats this year

you do not need a new buck every year

you do not need to feed the expensive grain/hay

you do not need to drain your bank account and become slaves to your goats

you do not need to make your family slaves to your hobby

you do not need to participate in all the performance programs

you do not need to bottle feed and milk every single day if your schedule is already full

it's ok to take goats to the auction and get them off your feed bill

it's ok to butcher your goats

your no name Nigerians aren't worth $400+ if they've been sitting on the market for 3 months with no interest

your goats are not worth more than your sanity or your family's sanity

I feel the dairy goat world, particularly Nigerian breeders, are somewhat out of touch with reality. It's ok to not keep up with the hardcore folks. It's ok to be happy with what you already have. It's ok to take the long road and "breed up". It's ok to not spend gobs of money. It's ok to not have goats in "show condition". As long as they are happy and healthy
, that's enough.

Busy day and my body is feeling it. Just now cleaning water tanks and refilling. Give me time to Just set and admire Dream (,my original Togg) and the beautiful sunset.

In search of show quality, from clean tested negative herd, Lamancha or Experimental doe. Will be adding to my Toggenburg herd for Experimental project. Doe will be shown and on milk test, once she freshions.

My girl finally got her *M. Made me cry! Sure miss her grumpy butt.

Zanzabeez DB Christmas Holly came to us in 2020, thin and scared. Over the years we did our best to give her a good home. She was still terrified of kids, impossible to catch, without a treat but was fat and loved. About 2 years ago she took on a couple German Shepherds (I'm sure saving my herd) but although she survived she was never quite right after. Our cranky old lady took her last breath yesterday and she will be missed. 😭

I've really thought about adding a nice Lamancha or Experimental doe to my herd but I'm scared. Some of my experiences buying in the past scare me. 😱

2028 ADGA National Show in Kentucky?? Well I don't think I can make 2027 in Oregon but just maybe I'll have a couple that I'd feel comfortable taking to Kentucky in 2028. Thinking about working on some experimental breeding. 🤓

What a weekend..bad weather, 80 mph winds,tons of rain, fire alarm at 2:00am, handful of ribbons and spending time with some friends, making memories. Southwest Missouri Dairy Goat Association put on a great show, thank you all for the job you did this weekend. Neamh Acres Cowgirls Say Grace went Grand Champion in 3 rings, Reserve in 1 and Best Of Breed in 1. Neamh Acres SS Listen Linda was 1st in her age group (I think in all 4 rings) and Reserve Champion in 1 ring. Neamh Acres SS Sweet Dreams was 2nd twice, 3rd and a 4th in her age group. Feeling very thankful, and blessed.

PENDING: Parting with one of my Toggenburg does. Flash is in milk, hand or machine, she's fine with either. I just prefer to show and she's not a show goat and Im retaining all my doelings this year. Milks easy, kidded easy last 2 years. Easy going, gentle, and loving. Udder picture is not full udder, I can get one later this evening.
