The strength of the IAFF 2nd District was on full display this week at the 58th IAFF Convention. Our exceptional team of labor leaders stood together, conducted the important business of our union, and helped shape the path forward for our great IAFF.

A special congratulations to Brother Trevor Towey on receiving the 2nd District Leadership Awardβ€”well-deserved recognition of his outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to our members.

Congratulations as well to Brother Dennis Murray, who was recognized for his remarkable 49 years of service as President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Eastern Missouri, Local 2665. His nearly five decades of leadership, commitment, and service to his membership represent an extraordinary legacy within the IAFF.

I could not be prouder of this team or more honored to serve alongside them. ALL IN for the IAFF! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ”₯

Along with many cancers, ALS is beginning to show a significantly higher incident of occurrence in firefighters compared to the general public. When we full the boot, it's not just for helping the kids, I could be helping one of our brothers or sisters

The IAFF’s 72-year-partnership with the MDA took center stage at the 58th Convention, recognizing more than $720 million raised to fight over 300

It's Back-to-School Timeβ€”Slow Down, Stay Alert, Keep Our Kids Safe! πŸŽ’πŸšΈ

School is back in session, which means more students, families, school buses and crossing guards are on Topeka streets. The Topeka Police Department wants to remind everyone of a few important safety tips to help keep our youth safe as they travel to and from school each day.

As you head out each morning, please slow down, stay alert and give yourself a little extra time, especially in and around school zones. A few extra seconds can make all the difference.

🚸 Watch carefully for children crossing the street.
🚌 Stop for school buses when required by law.
πŸš— Obey posted school zone speed limits.
πŸ“΅ Put the phone away and eliminate distractions.
⏰ Leave early so you don’t feel rushed.

TPD officers will be conducting traffic enforcement at schools across the city throughout the school year to help keep students, staff and families safe.

πŸ’™πŸ’› Let’s work together to make this a safe and successful school year for everyone!
