Bob was a private man, but a man everyone knew. With that being said, he needs to be honored and celebrated for being the root and foundation of our business from the very beginning. Bob had an avid love for the outdoors and had an even bigger love for his wife and two sons. This family business was established with his love for spending time with his family outdoors, making maple syrup, and eventually making a product for others to enjoy.
Bob suddenly and unexpectedly left us in one of our sap sheds two days ago doing exactly what he loved; being our head “sap-sucker” and transferring the sap to our sugarhouse for his beloved boys to boil.
We just started this crazy, intense few weeks of a window for making syrup. Many people stop in for fresh syrup or to check out the process. We have always loved all of you doing so and Bob thoroughly enjoyed and took pride in explaining the process to you all. He looked forward to talking about syrup to our customers at stores, farms, local farmer’s markets, and on the d**e over the years.
Bob’s favorite poem from EAG included the lines, “When care is pressing you down a bit….rest if you must, but don’t you quit.” We won’t. Bob and Margie instilled a hard work ethic into Bobby and Bart over the years.
Tomorrow will be boil #2. Sadly, we please ask that you refrain from stopping by the sugarhouse for a while as we are trying to pick up the pieces and keep the syrup rolling off. One minute of not looking at the pans or tanks could mean burnt pans that Bob wouldn’t be fond of.❤️
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to every single person who has offered to help with our syrup-making process for the remainder of the season. We’ve got this and appreciate you all for your love and support.
Bob’s absence has left such an enormous void in our hearts.💔 We’re forever grateful we were able to call him Bob, Dad, Big Bob, the “Sap-Sucker”, and Grampy.❤️
We love you forever.
