🌱🥚 Grow Food for Good: Growing More Good in 2026! 💚

Our year-to-date impact is something to celebrate! 🎉

Together, our backyard farmers and garden partners have donated 3,629 chicken eggs, 517 duck eggs, and 522 pounds of fresh produce and herbs to help nourish our neighbors. We’ve also repurposed 1,125 pounds of food waste! 🌿

Want to join us? We welcome new backyard chicken farmers, home gardeners, and community partners to help bring fresh eggs, herbs, and vegetables to Acord Food Pantry and the Ipswich Council on Aging's Community Cupboard.

Every egg, every harvest, and every contribution makes a difference! 🧡

🦃💛 Kinship Farm’s Kindness Project Is Back! 💛🦃

Let’s come together again this year to spread a little extra kindness and gratitude throughout our community!

We’re inviting schools, parents, grandparents, artists, and creative friends to help us create handmade Thanksgiving cards and gift tags that will accompany meal bags distributed through Acord Food Pantry and other local food pantries and Councils on Aging (COAs). 🧡

A simple card, a colorful drawing, a heartfelt message, or a handmade turkey can brighten someone’s holiday and remind them that their community cares.🌻

✨ Last year, our community created and distributed more than 1,500 Thanksgiving tags! We’d love to build on that generosity and reach even more neighbors this year.

🎨 Would you or your school like to participate? We welcome all ages and artistic abilities. Every card and tag is an opportunity to share kindness, connection, and the spirit of Thanksgiving.

Turnip lanterns were used before the modern pumpkin jack-o’-lantern! In ancient Ireland, revelers hollowed out large turnips (or potatoes or beets) and carved them into a demon’s face to frighten away spirits. They lit the turnips from within with a candle or a piece of smoldering coal 🎃🎃🎃⁠

They then placed the lanterns in the windows and doorways of their homes, believing that the carvings would scare off evil spirits and welcome deceased loved ones inside. Irish immigrants arriving in the New World during the early 1800s found the plentiful, easier-to-carve pumpkins to be ready substitutes for turnips.⁠

But if you’d like to carve some creepy turnips, try it the old-fashioned way!
