Long Table Farm is delighted to announce the addition of 12 Cream Legbar chicks to its flock.
Cream Legbar hens are known to lay light blue or light green eggs, depending on genetics. These hens are expected to start laying eggs around mid-May.

This explains why Long Table Farm produces naturally colored Easter eggs throughout the year.

Warning! Learning can be hard to swallow.

Have you ever wondered why fresh farm eggs taste so much better than store bought eggs? Hundreds of thousands of eggs are hatched by chicken hatcheries and egg producers each year. The unwanted male chicks are culled and ground into chicken meal, which is then used in dog food and subsequently converted into chicken feed for the mother chickens. Prior to that, the meal is treated with high doses of steroids, antibiotics, and hormone (FSH), which accelerates egg production in hens. The nutritional content of a chicken's diet is directly reflected in the eggs it produces. Therefore, we encourage you to support local farmers who prioritize the health and well-being of their chickens. At Long Table Farm, our chickens are fed a diet consisting of oats, grass, bugs, corn, and fresh, non-processed garden scraps.
