Mr. E and I had an opportunity to get one last bite at Neon Cactus Burger Co.'s brick and mortar location in Iola today. As a person who has actually tasted the food here multiple times, I'd pay $20 for these burgers all dayyyy.

Why? The bread is fresh, delicious, made my the hands of a mother who gets her strength from chasing a toddler all over God's green earth. Beef raised by my neighbors here in Toronto, the amazing young Ireland family. Sauces bursting with flavor. Fresh, delicious fries. This young family has really created something special. I'm so lucky to have gotten to experience it. Thank you!

Ever since Rusty did his lemonade thing at Toronto Days 3 years ago, he's been itching for another go. He and his brother will have a booth this week at Yates Center Farmers Market as Happy Lemons/Trenton's Treats!!

Tuesday, they will do a trial run of their setup at 113/115 W Main in Toronto on our concrete pad by Veterans Park from 5-7p.

Come by and get a taste, either time and either place!

Lemonade will be $1 with cold foam add ons available for additional charge (Ube or Vanilla)

Trenton will have some sort of dessert for $3/each and will serve as cashier.

More details as we get into the week!

I noticed our views have been WAY up this weekend, so here's an update on our business story, in case people come looking for us:

The Grumpy Bear Trading Post Toronto Lake Kansas now occupies our former home on Main Street in Toronto, KS. If you need some grub today, they are open Noon-5pm!

Emerald City Foods has returned to catering, offering service by appointment just as we did before 2022. We do not have plans to re-open a brick and mortar location in the future. Our menu remains robust. We can make anything we've ever made for you and more, but we are not available today. Apologies for any inconvenience!

If you're wanting to book us, it is recommended that you get in touch with us at least 7 days before your event. Message us here or call/text Mandy at 620.660.0016 to quote your event or check date availability.

If your community/charitable event needs a food vendor, let us know. Be advised that we will come for free, but we no longer pay booth fees to serve at any event unless it's in WoCo. This policy has really improved our experience as a vendor over the last year. We do not require access to water or electricity to operate, we bring everything with us.

Food Bank News:

We will have a little meat and some staples tomorrow evening. If you're on the text list, you'll get a photo of what we've got when we arrive with it. Please feel free to come over and grab whatever you can use. This will be first come, first served and you can take up to 3 day's supply of meat for each person in your household. All remaining items will be stocked for delivery/pickup anytime. We are still available by appointment only. We can just about guarantee you'll get food same-day. Please let me know if you want MILK! I will bring you a gallon if you let me know by noon tomorrow. I will have extras, but not many.

Needs:
Peanut Butter
Bread/Rice/Potato or other carb
Fruit/Veggies (canned, fresh, or frozen)
Proteins (canned fresh or frozen meats and cheeses)
Coffee is also a favorite thing when we have it!

We kicked off Spring by frying chicken for Oatville Community Church on their 70th Anniversary! 8 years ago, we catered our first funeral here, so it was like returning our roots.

Mandy is a week away from finishing nursing school and we have been so busy feeding our senior communities that we haven't given much thought to Summer events. If you have an event that needs more food vendors, I'd reach out in the next week or two. The schedule is not as spacious this Summer. A good problem to have!

We are hiring! I still need a photographer to produce images for our senior meals as well as our catering events. Pay is per event/per diem and is negotiable based on your skill level. This is a great opportunity for new photo businesses. You will be credited and marketed alongside your work. Send us a link to your profile or portfolio to apply!

We are also hiring in the Wichita area for part time prep cooks. We will train you, but experience is a plus. Flexible self-scheduling makes this ideal for new parents, retirees, and disabled folks. Hours are part time. Pay is $18/hr to start. Shoot us a message with 3 work references to apply!
