Well, the bees got me again.
How did it happen you ask?
Was it when I was working the hives tonight pulling frames full of honey and my smoker wasn’t working? When literally hundreds of bees were flying all over me? Nope not then.
How about when I was spinning the frames, extracting the honey, again with bees flying all around me. Did it happen then? Nope not then.

So when do you ask? When I was doing dishes! 🤦‍♀️ I reached for my green scrubby pad, didn’t even see the bee, but it sure saw me. Nailed me right in the crease of my finger. I ran outside, grabbed a couple leaves of plantain, gave them a quick chew and slapped it on the spot.
Old remedies are not forgotten here.

Recently, I’ve listened to 2 reports that said the average American family wears an article of clothing 7 times before throwing it away. I promise you that I wear my clothing far more than 7 times. The outfit I had on today is at least 2 years old, and I’ve worn these jeans at least one day every 2 weeks of those years. Once they are no longer good enough for my day job, they will transition to barn wear.
On a pair of dress slacks I have that are around seven years old, I’ve literally re-sewn the hem three times, and they still have years left to wear.
So tell me, do you wear your clothes out or only 7 times?

Tried to wrestle the twins tonight to get a good picture, but neither one were interested in participating.
They are 2 weeks old today so I weighed them. Both babies have gained… 8 pounds each! That’s almost .6lbs per day! I’ve been worried they aren’t getting enough milk, but so far clearly not the case. The buck is over 18lbs and his sister is 16.4.
This little buck absolutely hates to be picked up and throws a fit. He should be called Twister because of how he wiggles when I do.

I’ve taken advantage of the last two rainy evenings to get jelly and jams made for the farmers market. This Market season kicks off on June 3 with the First Wednesday in Wintersville event.
I have a lot of labeling ahead and I have another 12 jars cooling on the counter.
Once again this year, I will have all the favorites. Handmade soaps, lotion bars, lip balms, different herbal products, jams and jellies, and of course, honey as it becomes available.
If this weather ever levels out I’ll get the farm-stand reopened on the weekends too with baked good and of course free range, whole grain fed, heritage breed eggs.
