In Atlanta, at Women Evolve’s Mind Your Business luncheon, I watched my daughters see leadership, legacy, and strategy collide.

Fawn Weaver told the story of Nathan “Nearest” Green and how she built Uncle Nearest into a billion-dollar spirits brand.

We also witnessed the launch of a $75K pitch competition — no strings attached — for founders with bold ideas and cultural roots.

These moments matter. They plant the seed for what’s possible.

For too long, we’ve been following rules we didn’t write about success, about leadership, about rest, about how we show up in this work and in the world. If the rules don’t serve your vision, they’re up for revision.

That’s what Rewrite Your Rules is about.

This blog isn’t a cute empowerment moment, but it is a real conversation about clarity, boundaries, growth, and self-leadership. I’m sharing the process, the questions, the tension, and the freedom that comes with building a framework that actually fits who you are now.

Congratulations Chef Tristen Epps-Long 👏🏾 🇹🇹🥂🎉

Hailing from Houston, Chef Tristen is the winner of "Top Chef" season 22 amazing the judges and viewers with his incredible take on the dishes - AND bringing his whole self to this season.

In the finale, his progressive four-course meal infused Italian cuisine complemented the backdrop beauty of Milan and his passion for Afro-Caribbean cuisine. 

Chef Tristen's menu of monkfish with baccalà mbongo, pollo “dorengo” with injera shrimp toast, Oxtail Milanese with Carolina Gold rice grits, root vegetable cake with cassareep ice cream proved most cohesive in the story he wanted to tell.

Along with earning the coveted title, he received $250,000, a flight credit for $125,000, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, and an appearance at the annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado. The Houston resident also has the opportunity to headline their exclusive dinner at the historic James Beard House in New York and will also present at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards in Chicago on June 16.
