This is our peak season. The organized chaos. The days to-do list continually runs into tomorrow. The days seem too hot or too wet... Or both, just lingering on your skin. The animals are all getting bigger.. and so are the fed bills and butcher bills, but so are the market crowds and conversations, the support and love. We are continuing to grind through, and looking forward to the Fall.

Today started in a good mood and a manageable to-do list. My first task, feeding the cats, was and almost always is wonderful. Then off to the brooder (greenhouse) to check on (not so) baby chicks. I got stung by a hornet (insert profane words). Ducks broke their water, chickens out of food, farm-truck is making a funny noise, turkeys broke their shelter but, the pigs behaved and sheep number 15 is just so sweet....... So maybe still a win.

Even when it's a small batch in the summer, turkeys always make me think "gratitude". We are lucky to have such well loved pastures to feed our animals, despite either not enough rain, or too much. Grateful to care for this land and the animals we raise. What are you grateful for right now?
