TO OUR FRIENDS IN THE LOCAL FOODS COMMUNITY:
Over 15 years ago, Cherry Capital Foods began the difficult but rewarding work of building a sustainable local food system. During that time, CCF has helped dozens of small to mid-sized farmers and food producers bring their products to the marketplace when larger distributors would not. We've endeavored to be more than a distributor, operating as a partner to help launch hundreds of local farms and brands, bringing authentic and unique products not available elsewhere to the public.

Over the years, it's become increasingly difficult to operate as a small business in a highly competitive environment dominated by large corporations who offer lower cost products, often working with government subsidized growers. We have finally reached a point where we must make the difficult decision to close our doors.

Effective immediately, Cherry Capital Foods will actively begin the process of winding down our operation. November 16, 2023, will be our final delivery day and following this, all fleet activities will cease.

Between now and then, we will make every effort to serve as many customers as possible. Please stay in close contact with your CCF Sales Rep as we wind down the business over the coming weeks. Please accept a heartfelt THANK YOU for your business over the years.

Cherry Capital Foods was honored to host a visit from Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Wednesday. It was a golden opportunity to impress upon her the importance of working together with the state government and related programs to support our independent Michigan farmers and food producers.

Cherry Capital Foods was proud to host Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer as she paid a visit to Traverse City earlier today. The governor was joined by school leaders and a representative from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Following the tour, a roundtable discussion was held with area farmers, representatives of Cherry Capital Foods and others active in the local food community.

"Farming is tough, and it's crucial," Gov. Whitmer said. "We have the most second most diverse agriculture offerings in the country. It's a great source of pride, especially when you consider our growing season so much shorter than other states."

"But it is a tough business and that's why whether it's the 10-cent meal or it is Double Up Food Bucks," Gov. Whitmer said. "These are all ways to help people get good food and support our local farming economy."
