Just want to share a moment from this week 3 of settling into our new hometown. We got up early on Monday to head to the DMV to register our cars in Virginia and get our new plates, drivers' licenses, etc. Went once; the very nice gentleman at the check-in counter, offered to check our paperwork to save us time. Sure enough, we were missing something... home we went to retrieve it. When we got back just a few minutes later, the line was WAY longer than it had been, but we dutifully got in line. The nice gentleman REMEMBERED us and gave us special ticket numbers and promised we'd have only a 20 minute or less wait, AND WE DID! Then, silly me, I paid for my new license, purchased an EZPass (there are lots of toll booths here and between here & Detroit when we go visit family). In the flurry of gathering all the papers, the old driver's license with the new hole in it, and paying for things, I walked off without the EZPass. Of course discovered it the moment we got home and went straight back to find that the very helpful lady had alerted the check-in desk, called and left a message (silly me, had forgotten to turn phone back on after leaving) on my phone. The check-in lady told me "Cynthia is waiting for you" and when I got in line to see her, she waved me to the front and gave me the EZPass! The whole experience was a very new and positive welcome to a new hometown. If you ever need to register your car in Virginia, do yourself a favor and go straight to the Fair Oaks DMV in Fairfax, VA! WOW! Many thanks to each person who helped us!!! 😍🤗
