A real life look at what flower harvests look like right now. 😍 Whenever we are asked about dahlias, I always say they hit their stride in September and it proves true this year too! We don’t start any early or out any in hoops so they are grown true to our weather around here. We grow with the seasons and that means our flowers change throughout the season, we focus on embracing each season instead of forcing it. Dahlias are here and to be embraced. Now until frost! We are almost fully in bloom but still waiting on those few slow varieties to show up!! 😆 Meanwhile all the other varieties are making up for it. It’s dahlia time!!

Friday: 8-13 Elk Rapids Farmers Market in the Cedar St Parking Lot.

An inch of rain on a Monday morning and a stand that stayed closed longer than usual: a short story. Sorry for the delayed opening today! Monday’s have turned into one of our busiest days on the stand and today we just opened it at 2pm. After weeks (really more like months) of the forecast saying it would rain, I thought nah I’ll harvest in the morning. Most it ever does is mist a tiny bit, we hear thunder, and we see sheets of rain to the north and south of us. I can’t tell you how many times this summer that’s happened. I’ve driven home through rain but yet once we hit within close of the farm, dry as can be. I’ve harvested late at night to make sure stuff is in before the hail they are calling for. We’ve done it all. Today we got an entire inch of rain in a morning. I stayed inside, did absolutely nothing, and just listened to the rain and relaxed. This was so needed, our dahlias are on one line of drip irrigation but we heavily rely on rain also. So all this to say, I didn’t harvest ahead of time, I didn’t actually think it would rain, therefore the stand just opened! It’s a muddy wet mess in the field, but the plants already look happier to me! It was an entire inch of rain!!

Customer Appreciation Day! Woke up today and thought I’d do something special and now I’m finally posting about it. 😆 It’s feeling a little dreary out this morning so why not do something special and fun?? 🤩 We’re having a thank you sale today, Thursday the 27th. All our mixed bouquets are 2 for $40 at the stand today!!

Dahlia season is almost in full swing!! We are putting them in all our mixed bouquets and we’re hoping in the next couple of weeks we have loads more of dahlia bunches!! This summer has flown by!! How is it almost September?? Wow. We’ve still got a long time to go, flowers aren’t going any here until frost and let’s not even think about that yet.

I’ve got a some bunches at Elk Rapids and hoping we can get some on the stand maybe Sunday?!?

SUNDAY SALE!!!

The flowers are so good right now and in abundance so we’re having a sale!! All our $25 bouquets are 2 for $40 all day!! Plus there’s a couple $10 little jars. Oh and of course lots of sunflower bunches too! I’m off to pot up some more plants plus bring a few new vases out! It’s a good day to stop by the stand. 😉

The heart of August is so so good. The bouquets are full, colorful, and so many different varieties of flowers. 💐 We even have dahlias getting sneaked into bouquets too, earliest we’ve ever been able to start putting them in bouquets! Happy Wednesday! Here’s a few updates! Things are going crazy on the farm right now. We are overflowing in sunflowers and lisianthus. How cute are these lisianthus jars at the stand?? Sunflower and lisianthus season might be a little shorter this year so stop by and grab some before it’s too late! Blueberries are still ripening. At least two more weeks there if you haven’t gotten your fair share of them yet. So much goodness still to come and so much to enjoy right now!! 🤩

Last nights sunset lisianthus harvest 😍😍😍

The flowers are so good right now. Everything may be off in timing and blooming at once but it’s so good. August is one of the most abundant times of the season so we hope to see you at market or the stand soon! 😍

Summer is flying by, wow! It feels like I’ve barely shared anything from this summer because it’s been sunrise to sunset and then some (or sometimes a lot more 🤣), and writing and sharing pictures has fallen by the wayside. But we are still here, and still pumping out the blooms, bouquets, and blueberries. I promise one day I’ll get to all my messages and emails.
