Apple Hill Orchard Apple Hill Orchard is located in the mountains of East Tennessee and is a thriving orchard with many varieties of delicious apples open to self-pick.

Apple Hill is a beautiful orchard located in the mountains of East Tennessee established in 1996. Jorma Eskola planted the orchard in phases and there are currently over 200 trees with many different varieties. These include Cortlands, Macintosh, Fugi, Gala, Braeburn, Golden Grimes, Granny Smith, Ginger Gold, Mutsu, Liberty, Winesap, Red Delicious and Arkansas Black. With so many types of apples, Apple Hill offers a great opportunity to find the perfect cooking apples and fresh eating apples! For directions and pricing information, please call 423-733-2017. Hens of Apple Hill - these gals have been devouring apple scraps as we have been busy making dried apples which is a favorite snack of ours. 😁
I try to have a few chicks I raise each year to replace the gals who pass across the rainbow bridge. This year I got a few babies who are a cross between Americana and Black Copper Marans. The resulting eggs are rumored to be olive… I’m hoping!
But let me introduce you to one of the girls. She is aptly named Kiwi. 😁
She has no tail. 😆
I believe this is her ancestral genetics from the Araucana chicken, known for laying bright blue eggs and native to Chile in South America. She’s a sweetie and no matter her egg color, she will be a treasured Hen of Apple Hill and her eggs will be used when we bake delicious apple treats. 😍

CLOSED FOR THE 2026 SEASON

Thank you to all of you who came out! We knew this season would be short and sweet.
We love having folks come by and share in our little slice of heaven.
Hoping all who got some this year has enjoyed them. And here’s hoping we see you all and more next season!

It isn’t all peaceful and chill at the farm. There is always some underlying drama happening.

Hoping to stop this active robbing situation before the colony is lost. It is the dearth and hives are hungry. This is the wet sheet method which helps confuse and diffuse robbers. It is the first thing I had on hand to throw over the hive in between work calls. I don’t currently have a robbing screen, but it is now on my order list, so this evening I’m hoping a club member may have one and maybe graciously let me borrow it…

Will have some stuff to do after the sun goes down, flights for the day have ceased and everybody is back home to assist these gals in defending their home.

There’s a little romance in the air at Apple Hill.
Jorma’s (orchard planter) granddaughter has found the one her soul loves! Kyle planned a sweet proposal in the smaller “secret” orchard and it was magical. We wish them well and many blessings for a long life full of love!

Local Honey!

The Clinch Valley Beekeepers Association has kept hives in the orchard apiary for several years. This year the club harvested a lovely crop and it is available for sale!
If you have been looking for local honey, this is your chance.
I taste tested it at our club meeting and it is delicious. 10/10 recommend 👌🏼
$30 for 1 Quart while supplies last!
The Quarts will be available for pickup this coming week.

Good Evening!

Hello you lovely people! Please read entire post.
We are OPENING- BUT limited days!!!!
Apple Hill will open Aug 13th!
We are opening with limited dates - Open Thursdays to Saturdays (until end of season post) and Labor Day (the only Monday). If these days change - I'll make a post!
Due to the late frosts and the major pruning we did, the crop this year is reduced a bit. BUT there are still lots there that need to be picked and used for all the delicious apple recipes! As a heads up, the picking won't be as easy but the apples that are good are just as delicious!
Apple Prices for 2026 (no change from last year)
1/2 bushel-1bag-$25
1 bushel-2bags-$40
1 1/2 bushels-3bags-$60
2 bushels - 4 bags -$75
The more you pick the cheaper the bushel!
Mum may consider special pricing for individuals wanting to pick large amounts. Just ask!
As always when you arrive, Mum has bags and orchard maps on the front porch along with pole pickers. She will let you know which varieties are ready. Some mature earlier than others. As the season progresses, more apples varieties will be ready. 🍎🍏

The orchard is sleeping under its winter blanket.
The bees are snug in their Bee Cozies.
And we are inside next to our wood burner preparing with positive anticipation of a good honey crop by making medium frames. 🤩

LAST WEEKEND🥹
Picking has slowed to almost a halt! This will be the last weekend but be warned the picking is difficult at this time and the reward isn’t what it was last year! If you have far to drive, I’d say you may want to hold off. 🥺
This season was short but we suspected it would be.
Thank you to all who came out and supported us we are so grateful!
Hopefully next year will be a bit better!
