Our neighbor’s herd of donkeys spotted an open gate and decided it was the perfect opportunity for a donkey play date—which I fully support. 😂

Both herds were SO excited to see more donkeys, and honestly… . The bigger the donkey herd, the happier my heart.

I’ve always considered myself an extrovert, but the older I get, the more content I am to stay home. If I can go an entire week without leaving the farm, that sounds like a pretty great week to me. That being said, I’m always happy to see my people when I do.

My mom recently called me a “stay-at-home extrovert,” and I’ve never felt more understood. 🤣

So when these donkeys saw their friends and came running at full speed, I completely understood the excitement. Because while I may love staying home, seeing my favorite people still makes my heart happy too.

🌧️ Guess what? It’s raining! 🌧️

And honestly… we couldn’t be happier. We’ve been desperately needing this moisture and praying for it, so today we’re choosing to celebrate every drop! ☔💙

The rain isn’t stopping us—we’re still at Ogden Farmers Market on Historic 25th Street with so many amazing local vendors ready to welcome you. Grab an umbrella, throw on a rain jacket, and come enjoy a day of shopping small, supporting local businesses, and soaking in the atmosphere.

Rainy market days have a charm all their own. Plus, the crowds are usually smaller, which means more time to browse and visit with your favorite vendors!

We currently have six calves available and looking for new pastures after weaning. Whether you’re searching for a future herd sire, a breeding prospect, or simply a sweet pasture companion, we may have the perfect fit.

Every calf is raised right here on our family farm, socialized from day one, and comes from parents with exceptional temperaments. Gentle, friendly animals are what we strive to produce, and we take great pride in the time we invest in each calf.

Today the boys were in the house! 🐂😅

Yearly trich tests for the bulls are always an ”interesting” day around here and take a whole lot of planning. Convincing Morty to cooperate with the chute is a full-time job by itself. Add in making sure Morty and Clyde are NEVER in the pen at the same time — because those two are still determined to prove who’s the toughest guy on the farm — and it definitely keeps us on our toes. 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

But thankfully everything went smoothly today! ✔️
Morty, Buck, Clyde, and Knox are all tested and good to go. There was a WHOLE lot of testosterone and smack talking going on with these guys!

A successful bull-working day calls for a big sigh of relief. We sure do love these dads — and future dad in Knox’s case. ❤️🐮

Each year I swear I’ll have my new chute. Maybe next year! 🤞

Meet an Animal 🐮

Meet Morty! Morty is a Whitepark/Galloway mini bull and the big (small) guy who started our whole mini cow breeding program here at Evans Acres.

Five Facts About Morty:

1️⃣ Chondro positive — that means he carries the gene that contributes to his miniature size and shorter legs.

2️⃣ He weighs around 1,100 lbs, eats about 20–25 lbs of food each day, and in the summer drinks around 15 gallons of water daily. (Being mini still comes with a big appetite! 😅)

3️⃣ He’s a giant teddy bear and loves scratches.

4️⃣ Treats are life. His absolute favorite? Apple horse treats. 🍎

5️⃣ He’s sweet…but also stubborn. If Morty decides he doesn’t want to go somewhere (like loading into a trailer or heading into the chute for vaccines), good luck changing his mind. He’s too sweet to scare into moving and too big and stubborn to push around. Once Morty makes up his mind…Morty wins. 😂
