I have never been more grateful to celebrate a birthday than I am today.
22 years ago I was standing at the sink in the bathroom of our Memphis, TN, apartment, when my water broke. I hollered out for Bryan. He rushed in frantically saying, “let’s grab our stuff and head to the hospital!”
I quickly responded, “Not until I eat. Take me to Waffle House.” He thought I was crazy. Needless to say, I got my Waffle House and then we met and fell in love with Gavin hours later. True story, Waffle House is one of Gavin’s favorite restaurants now.
In the last 22 years, that boy has brought so much joy to me, Bryan, and Kelsye. He’s so freaking funny. So kind. A true light in the world. He loves his family hard. He loves Jesus. He’s a gentle soul with animals.
He’s just good.
On February 15th of this year, after Gavin was hit by a car and spent 17 days in the hospital, there were times we weren’t sure we’d be celebrating this birthday. So, yeah…we’re especially grateful for this one!
We do have an update on Gavin, but we’ll share that in a couple of days. Today is all about celebrating his beautiful life. Please join me in wishing this birthday queen the absolute best birthday ever.
