Here are a few quick updates from The FarmStand:

We've stocked fresh blackberry jam today!! Made just yesterday using our own deliciously sweet blackberries! Keep an eye out for the Wild West version soon to come 🤤

Reminder that we plan to be set up at the Milan Farmers Market this Saturday!! 7am- 12noon.

We'll get an update on sweet corn today so that we can let y'all know when it will be here.

We will also be getting a load of freestone peaches in the middle of next week!

Lastly, chickens went to the processors today, we'll be picking them up early next week, so we'll start contacting those who got on the pre-order list to schedule those pick ups!

We hit a slight road block today when the processors who will be doing chickens for us notified us that they still have not received their USDA certification that they were expecting months ago... While it's a little frustrating to find out 1 week before our processing date, our hands are tied and theirs are as well seeing as they are waiting on the state to make their move. *USDA certification is not required for small farm direct to consumer chicken in Tennessee.

*What does that mean for us? We will not be able to offer RETAIL chicken, neither whole, nor cuts at The FarmStand. We just have to change up how we plan to offer chicken this go-around.

*What does that mean for you? If you pre-ordered, nothing changes, you'll receive the chickens you are expecting.

*For anyone else, we are re-opening our pre-oder form for June pick-up to those who missed the pre-order earlier this year.

Our next round of local, pasture-raised, non-gmo chicken is anticipated to be processed in October. We will post pre-order options for that in the next month or two.

We're going to have sweet corn available next week, grown by our retired neighbors, Mr & Mrs Greene. They always bring us some of their produce to share each summer, and its always delicious! This is the first year he's bringing some to sell at the store! It's going to be priced at $5.50/dozen!! So, mark your calendars, watch for updates, and don't miss out!

Fresh sourdough bread, baked this morning, now on the shelves at The FarmStand!!
I only baked 2 loaves this time, but I have frozen bread from last weekend in the freezer too!!

What makes our chickens different?

They're not the same birds you'll find in the grocery store.

Our heritage Red Ranger chickens are raised on pasture, moved to fresh grass daily, fed a non-GMO diet, and allowed to grow at a more natural pace.

The result?

Chicken with real flavor, firmer texture, and the kind of quality many folks remember from years ago.

No shortcuts.

No industrial poultry houses.

Just a family farm raising food the way we believe it should be raised. We raise the kind of chicken we're proud to feed our own children.

We'll have a limited number available this season. We anticipate having whole chicken and cuts available in-store around the first of July.

For those who pre-ordered, we will be reaching out very soon to schedule pick-ups. Processing is next week, but will be a few days later before we pick up packaged birds.
